It's National Polar Bear week.
One of natureâs dichotomies â scary beast, fearsome hunter, loving mother ⌠đ
My Canadian friend, living in Churchill, came face to face with one when she took out the trash. She did what the experts say is best â stand perfectly still, do not make eye contact and pray like hell.
I still have a Canadian friend, phew.

Good news for the UK Travel Industry.
Good news for the UK Travel Industry.
According to ABTAâs latest Holiday Habits report out this week, more people are turning to travel professionals to arrange their holidays.
The report shows a year-on-year increase in Brits booking with a travel agent or tour operator from 34% in 2023 to 38% in 2024.
National BBQ Week
This week marks âNational BBQ Weekâ â like this post if you love a BBQ!
This is a great article that explores BBQâing around the world! As the article shares, Slow cooking by fire and smoke is among the oldest ways of preparing food. Nearly every culture has its own take.
The term barbecue, in fact, comes from the Taino word barbacoa. Tainos were an Indigenous tribe that inhabited Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and much of the Caribbean until the midâ16th century.
From Asia, Australia, Fiji, America, here at home in the UK and beyond, everyone has their own take on the perfect BBQ!

I like to keep up with travel trends and in its "Best in Travel" report for 2024, Lonely Planet has predicted the world's top 50 countries, regions, cities, best value and most sustainable destinations.
Looking at the top places to "unwind, connect, eat, learn and journey", there's "plenty to pack in" over the next year. Destinations highlighted in the report include Mongolia (country), Western Balkans' Trans Dinarica Cycling Route (region), Nairobi in Kenya (city), Spain (sustainable) and The Midwest, USA (best value).

You may have seen the British Airways TV ads that encourage completely switching off whilst on holiday! I think itâs an excellent message.
An article from People Management shared that a wide reaching study from September 2023, showed that 113,000 fewer days were being taken as holiday by UK workers. The study said that being âtoo busyâ was a given reason.
This is really concerning â time off allows us to regenerate and recharge and gives us all important quality time with family and friends. Travel has been linked to stress reduction and can alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression and improve over all health. So next time you think you are âtoo busyâ to take a holiday, please try to think about the long term effects of âwork work workâ âŚâŚ.we all deserve a rest!
