It’s also , and we’ve got all the love for these slow-moving (and often misunderstood) mammals.⁠ Did you know sloths can turn their heads up to 270 degrees, thanks to extra neck vertebrae? Or that they only come down from their trees once a week to, well... answer the call of nature?⁠

Turns out, sloths aren’t lazy at all! They do exactly what they need to do, 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 they need to do it – all about conserving energy. We could all take a page from their book, don’t you think?⁠

🌊 Dive into Conservation with Secret Paradise Maldives! ⁠

We’re excited to share that Kamey from our local team at in the Maldives recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in a unique expedition with the Maldives Underwater Initiative by Six Senses Laamu and Mission Blue! 🌍 This expedition, focused on the Laamu Hope Spot—a region recognised for its remarkable marine biodiversity and resilience—was a one-of-a-kind experience that deepened our connection to the natural world we strive to protect.⁠

During the expedition, Kamey joined a team of researchers to conduct exploratory dives, survey coral reefs, and even identify new potential turtle nesting spots. A standout moment was encountering a curious oceanic manta ray, which provided the team with valuable data for conservation efforts. Kamey also had the chance to engage with local communities in Laamu Atoll, discovering how the younger generation is passionately advocating for the ocean’s protection.⁠

Kamey’s journey has brought back invaluable knowledge that will enrich our trips, offering our guests a deeper, more informed connection to the stunning underwater world of the Maldives. ⁠

2️⃣ The Amazon River is a water powerhouse—it discharges more water than the next seven largest rivers combined! 💧 That’s a whole lot of H2O!

3️⃣ Rivers don’t just flow—they’re lifelines for wildlife. The Yangtze River alone is home to over 350 species of fish! 🐟

4️⃣ Some rivers are older than the mountains! The Finke River in Australia is estimated to be 350 million years old—talk about ancient history! 🏞️

5️⃣ Ever heard of a river that disappears? The Rhône River in Switzerland dips underground for 3 kilometers before reappearing—now you see it, now you don’t! 🧙‍♂️

🌴 Ever seen a bird with blue feet? Welcome to the Galápagos Islands, where the wildlife is as quirky as it gets! 🦎🐢

From dancing blue-footed boobies to sneezing marine iguanas and the giant tortoises that inspired Darwin, these creatures are straight out of a nature lover’s dream. ✨

But with great wildlife comes the need for great responsibility. While snorkeling with penguins or watching Sally Lightfoot crabs scuttle by, it’s important to respect their space. It’s their world, and we’re just lucky to experience it. 🌊

Koneswaram Temple in Trincomalee is a significant Hindu Temple and must be seen to be believed.

This temple has gone through many prosperous years, as well as many turbulent ones during European colonisation.

Located inside the historic Fort Frederick, the temple brings juxtoposition to the new meets old European contructions.

The Koneswaram Temple is considered to be one of the Pancha Ishwaram (one of the five abodes of Lord Shiva), which makes it one of the most important Hindu temples in the whole country.

The temple flourished since its inception, however was pillaged and partially destroyed with European colonisation.

Now, a symbol of the Sri Lankan people Koneswaram Temple is a highlight of any Sri Lankan adventure.
