Would you like to be an Isle of Man tour guide?
The Guild of Manx Registered Tour Guides (https://isleofmantourguides.org/) is a friendly group of 29 people who enjoy showing their Island to visitors (and a few locals). We’re usually known as Blue Badge Guides, because that’s the badge we wear when we’re guiding and it reflects the UK’s equivalent qualification. We spent two academic years studying the history, geography, economy, folklore etc of the Island, and how to manage a group safely and professionally, before we undertook some tough assessments. Successful completion enabled us to join the Guild and call ourselves Blue Badge Guides. This qualification enables us to be allocated tour guiding work for visiting cruise ships, as well as to carry out private guiding work.

We’re now inviting expressions of interest in the next Blue Badge Guides training course, which will be run from Autumn 2024 – Spring 2026. The cost of the training has yet to be set, but for the last course (2020-22) it was about £2,000, which a guide should recover in fee income within two years.
The number of places is limited – only 12 trainees will be accepted. However, if this is something you would really like to do, please contact [email protected] to register your interest as soon as possible.
