When's the best time of year to visit Ireland?

We've a choice of properties at all price points, including these two with direct private shore access - Mickey's Cottage and Cro na Tra.

July and August sell out first but IMO May and June are often the best time of year on the Atlantic - long days, often very sunny, and being so far North it hardly ever goes dark!

Pictured in this characterful corner of a Carmarthenshire cottage, a fascinating array of antique utility pieces include a Butchers block, a primitive stool, a selection of large earthenware bread-proving bowls and an enamel flour bin. The ‘Salem print’ – which once featured in a Victorian calendar was commonly cut and framed by many homeowners and thus was a popular traditional image with religious resonance that appeared in many similar Welsh cottages. “Over the past decade, everyone from designer Martin Brudnizki to writer Alain de Botton has escaped to Bryn Eglur to recharge their batteries. Just a 15-minute drive from the west Wales coast, this restored ruin marries fully detached privacy with tradition you can feel (many of the interior details date back to 1755). Owner Dorian Bowen jokes that while he offers guests bountiful guides to the local area, their feedback at the end is often the same – most rarely leave the site, instead choosing to laze around with the doors open listening to the birds, meditating in the secret gardens and nuzzling their happy dogs.”

Selfie of the day!

Phil and Linda are staying in the showman’s wagon at Trehilyn, and who restored the wagon popped in to say Hi. Thanks Griff for the 'selfie'!

The renovation of the wagon was a 'job and a half', involving a structural rebuild and restoration. To protect it from the elements the vehicle now sits in a huge timberframe shed, with glazed doors looking across the farmyard and gardens.
