East London Knit Knitwear design, knitting patterns, all things knit. Hi! I am EastLondonKnit, a.k.a. Renée Callahan, a knitwear designer and knitting teacher and podcaster.

I am rubbish at Facebook, and very rarely here, so please do visit my website for more information. And please forgive me if I haven't answered your FB message! It is mostly likely because I haven't seen it, not because I am ignoring you! www.eastlondonknit.com

Hey there! 👋🏻 I hope you have all been keeping well and enjoying some quality crafting time! I have been knitting, despite my absence here on the EastLondonKnit social media. In fact I designed this sweater, called Elderberry for and it is out now🤓. You may know that I have been working for The Fibre Co. for a while now and putting designing on the back burner, but there are still some ideas percolating in here!

If you like Elderberry, I have a couple of things to share with you: 1st I have a discount code if you fancy getting the yarn kit with Cirro yarn (which is what I used). I can highly recommend it! If you would like to get 10% off your Elderberry kit from The Fibre Co. website, use code ‘AnElderberry10’ when you check out.

The other thing is that I love the sweater so much I am going to knit one for myself, and you are welcome to join me if you fancy it! I am hosting an informal knit along on Zoom beginning 1st March and it would be lovely to see you there. Details and links to the zoom registration can be found on thefibreco.com/events

I haven’t tried to take a proper pic of myself for ages and I’d forgotten how hard it is to take a nice selfie without making a super smug face 😏😅

I thought I should do a little post in honour of the first sweater by another designer I have knit in years.

This is ‘Cirro’ by designed for Issue 6 of 🌟

I wanted to make it both because it’s a lovely design and because I am now working for and we have a yarn called Cirro which I thought would be perfect for this. I really love the finished object and am wearing this sweater regularly✨💖✨

Not only have I finished a sweater 💃🏿 & started working for one of my favourite yarn companies 💝, I’ve also just moved house…. From East London to Switzerland. It’s been eventful around here lately!

Cheers to new beginnings all round! 🥂

Hey there! How are you doin’ this Sunday? Me? I’m basking in the warm glow of a finished object 😎 I actually finished something! 💃🏿🥂

I began this sweater quite a while ago but got stuck on sleeve island. This is the first time I’ve knit with handspun yarn and it was really interesting- the yarn seemed to have a mind of its own! I designed the pattern and although at the moment it’s my favourite-est thing I ever knit, I don’t have plans to write up the pattern right now. It is a novel feeling to knit for the pleasure of it!

Did I mention that I got a job? I am now the Social Media and Content Manager for and I am really proud to join The Fibre Co. team. I’ve known and respected Daphne for years & it’s a pleasure to work with her. One of the perks of the job is yarn 🧶🤗🧶 which is fabulous because I am a big fan of all the yarns from TFC!! I can’t wait to get my next project on the needles in Arranmore Light yarn! 💖

So that’s my news. How about you?

And just like that, a sweater jumped onto my needles.

I’m using a traditional handmade Portuguese yarn that is spun on a 100 year old wheel and oiled with olive oil. It is like nothing I have knit with before. It is so springy & has a very thick and thin texture. I’m pretty excited about the sweater!🤓
