Yosemite National Park and Mammoth Lakes! Always 1 on the bucket list for me. When planning our route around California, I knew a stop off at Yosemite would break up the 8 hour drive to Vegas.
Famous for its waterfalls, cliffs and bears, the gang enjoyed swimming in the rock pools and taking in the sights especially Yosemite Falls and Half Dome! ⛰️🐻
We decided against staying in Yosemite for the night, getting a few hours drive ahead for Vegas the next morning.
We based ourselves in Mammoth Lakes and drove the famous Tioga Pass.
Not for the faint hearted but worth it for the views! Only open in the Summer months due to the heavy snowfalls in the Winter, this highest elevation highway through the Sierra Nevada Mountains provided some of the best sights throughout our whole trip. Word of warning though… be prepared and keep well hydrated, altitude sickness was experienced by some unfortunately😷🥵
Mammoth Lakes and the Juniper Springs Resort was the base for the night. The ski resort offered lots of amenities and would be a fantastic place to travel to again in the ski season but was still busy even in the off season. Bears are frequent visitors and we had to ensure there was no food or rubbish in the hire cars to avoid coming out the the morning to find the car in pieces which staff said does happen in regular basis😅🍪
A good night sleep and we were set up for the 5 hour journey into Las Vegas!
3 worded review of Yosemite/Mammonth Lakes - breathtaking/cliffhanger/bigfoot😂
