MAKING A START IS WHAT MATTERS . . .
I had a great weekend away at the BD South and West Camp, delivering the mindset sessions and training on Dot😍
This time of year for me is all about deciding on what your winter project is going to be. The winter is the ideal time to take stock, make plans and look ahead. It’s when you can really put the work in both on and off the horse to maximise your training.
It doesn’t matter whether you have an arena or an indoor, having a winter project is about doing the things you never have Time to do in the summer, to learn, to grow, to make mistakes and in turn, make progress!
We have a lot of work to do this winter, and I have a lot of learning to do to stay ahead of Dot!!
What’s your winter project!?
If you want help staying motivated this winter and setting up your own winter project why not join us for the Winning at Winter Audio program!?
We will cover how to stay motivated and delve into goal setting and year planning so that you can make these dark winter months count regardless of how much you can ride!!

THIS IS NOT A POST ABOUT WINNING . . .
Over the last few weeks I have been asked a few times how I got on at the ICC last month, and when I say what I was pleased with and how it went, the next question is then 'yer but how did you do?' Or 'oh you kept that quiet'.
For a while now I have experimented with how I post my results on social media for the main reason that I actively promote defining your own success and what that is, isnt always what human nature percives as success e.g red rosettes, sashes and winning.
Winning is basically relient on who else turns up, we cant control who is in our class, and what marks the judge gives us.
But what we can control is our effort, attitude, response and mindset.
What has been interesting over the last year is that the posts that I include that I won always do better than the posts that I talk about achiving my goals, both could be the same result, however it got me thinking 🤔 if i want to support clients in focusing on their process rather than the outcome, I need to be actively putting the out there.
So no - I dont always say Ive won, for no other reason than if it happens - its a bonus, and I will always celebrate the milestones, but its a bonus to the goals I have already set. For me the ICC was about gaining consistency and building our partnership at the level, which was absolutely achieved ✅️ that was a huge win for us 💪
I totally understand that we all want to know how people get on, support them and congratulate them, but I want to promote the 'wins' that are part of the process, the ones that get you to the outcome, and the ones more importantly we can control.
We did win overall at the ICC, but it wasnt the rosette and sash that mattered (although lovely) it was that feeling of getting both sets of tempis in the first test, the feeling of consistency and flow in the trot work of the second test, and the confidence gained at level that was my win for the weekend.💪💪
So I promise you Im not h

**New to my coaching this year**
Those who have trained with me before will know I do love having obstacles to ride round! However after adding to my list of coaching aids I thought it was time to keep it all together!
So what’s in my coaching bag (affectionately known as the bag of tricks by clients😂😂)!?
🧤The obvious essentials for me water and gloves!
❤️The cones which transform any space in to a great learning environment!
🔵Franklin Balls - perfect for working on position and developing the riders feel.
🏋️♀️The Band - a great tool for helping riders engage their lower core and get feedback on their hands!
📏Rider Align Jacket - a wonderful way of giving the rider a visual in how they are sitting.
🤳All combined with my phone using the @onform_app to deliver videos of your sessions and audio recordings of your takeaways from the session and what you will be implementing going forward. Giving you a virtual training journal in your pocket which can be accessed anywhere anytime!!
Have you had benefit from the bag of tricks!? I would love to know your favourite!! 👇👇

When you invest in a bridle, you are investing in the journey!
Your bridle comes with you everywhere, it features in everything from the hours you put in that nobody sees to competitions where everybody sees.
Its with you through thick and thin, and provides the comfort through communication with your horse.
@katenegussaddlery has always been a firm favourite for our family, and really has been our bridle of choice from pony club to PSG!
Dotty has been in KN Snaffle bridles from her first Novice to PSG and I really wouldnt ride her anything else because the quality and fit that it provides.
If you are looking to make an investment in your journey check out @katenegussaddlery for your bridles and accessories!

Week 2 of #gallopinto2024 and I am combining 2 posts here: WHAT AM I PASSIONATE ABOUT? and WHY DID I START MY SOCIALS?
I'm passionate about developing the combination - BOTH horse and rider. Horses have always been my passion, but for a happy horse we need a happy rider!
My 🔥 is lit by helping people belive they can achive what they once thought impossible!!
Through education and support riders really can go wherever their dreams will take them!
Horses bring so much joy into our lives, its important we repay the favour by learning more about what we want to do, and how to do it.
This is why I started my socials because I wanted to help riders learn more, inspire them to take on their challenge and help their horse's help them!!

GOT THAT 'SHOULD' FEELING!?
YOU 'SHOULD' SCHOOL YOUR HORSE . . .
YOU 'SHOULD' SET SOME GOALS . . .
YOU 'SHOULD' HAVE A PLAN . . .
Should is one of those words that drives our own self sabotage, the word 'should' kills any possibility.
Try replacing should with could- lets try those again:
YOU 'COULD' SCHOOL YOUR HORSE . . .
YOU 'COULD' SET SOME GOALS . . .
YOU 'COULD' HAVE A PLAN . . .
I'm that person that belives in making it possible, even if thats starting with the way you talk to yourself!!
The egaled eyed of you may have caught a sneek peak of my new 'Mentor Me' programme opening up for 2024!!
If you are looking for someone to help you belive, and to discover what you could be working towards then make sure you drop me a DM with the word 'Mentor'

🎄What will you be finding under the tree this year? 🎄
I always find some of the best Christmas presents are the ones you can use over and over again!!
Falling into that category is always going to breeches for us equestrians!
@agasoequestrian have you covered! I honestly can say they are the most conformtable breeches to ride in!
Key features that are important to me are:
👉 They are highwaisted - the waistband is thick which means they stay comfortably above my hips.
👉They are true to size - such a rarity these days!
👉 Water repellant - which is perfect at this time of year!!
👉 4 way stretch means you never feel restricted.
👉 They have a winter edition!! Literally my total favourite at this time of year!
The winter edition have all the normal features Agaso but are fleece lined meaning you can keep those chilblains at bay and still look smart!
I wear them for everything at this time of year from ha k to to teaching!!

Last but certainly not least in our horse intros is Dave (Double It).
Dave is the youngest out of the 3, all out if the same mare. He is 9 years old and hasn't exactly had the easiest if runs in life!
As young horse Dave had a knock in the field, we are unsure with what or how but we heard a scuffle and when we got there his front leg was hanging like it was broken. No marks, no swelling, nothing on xrays or scans so it was diagnosed as nerve paralysis in his shoulder. We unsure for a ling time if he would ever be able to be ridden but we gave him time and lots of it. He stayed with my parents @blount.cath who worked hard to make life easier for him.
After COVID he was looking a lot sounder so at 7 years old went to be backed, we took it very slow with lots and lots in hand poles, and split the backing process up. Dave took a long time to gain confidence not just in himself but in his body too. Although his proprioception with that front leg is still different he is much stronger and has learnt how to use different parts of his body!
After nearly a year of just hacking with @mary_burnfield once Jamie had backed him, and then another year of working out different surfaces Dave is now in his first year of competition. Hes such character and is certainly a laugh day!!
Dave is qualified for the winter regionals at prelim and is working towards novice level at home. I cant wait to see where Daves journey takes us, as far as im concerned every ride is a bonus as we may never of had them!

Great confidence building stay away for Dave this week! We headed to Cherwell for a @bd_southandwest camp this week.
These camps are always packed with so much goodness!
Dave can be a bit of an introvert, so the more situations he can be exposed to the better!
We did 2 days with a lesson each day, test riding each day as well as lots of talks and workshops around the riding.
I was delivering the goal setting workshops each day where we focused on performance profiling which is when we do a skills analysis, and then use this to inform how we set our goals going forwards! Its such a great way to look at the whole picture, and leaves no stone unturned in createing a path to achiving your goals!
I think these camps are such a fantastic way to spend a couple of days focused in you and your horse!

We did a thing last weekend!!
Its always special when you get a homebred to advanced 😍😍
Some great work and some mistakes, but not a bad run at all for our first one out and about!!
We are still very much in the training to compete stage feeling our way through it.
But very pleased with how relaxed she was like the pro dot always is taking it in her stride!
