The bivouac in Carlos Paz is beside the lake and potentially the nicest in the Dakar.

Jove ran for Team Kawasaki the last couple of years which is based out of Carlos Paz. He is from Neuquen, Argentina. He is on a Yamaha this year (the new one) and his assistance team is from here, Carlos Paz.

We had a great day at Iquique watching the trucks and cars whilst the bikes we're in Bolivia. After briefly getting stuck in the flat we aired the Tyres down then to the delight of the crowds we powered our 6X6 Tatra to one of the highest viewing points on the massive 3km long dune outside the bivouac. Walking around in side the truck was a challenge but it was great fun and as you can see made for some great race viewing....

After a hotel in Iquique we stayed on the beach near the bivouac for the last two nights. Perfect secluded camping with a bit of guitar and some Chilean red! ;-)

Bivouac photos show life on the other side of the fence. A chance to mend broken bikes bodies and hearts. But not a rest day for te out crews who after sorting out the vehicles re-organise and clean everything ready for the second half of the Rally!

The 10th was a bivouac day! We got passes thanks to our friends Gilly, Scott and Vincent from Freedom Rally (who are supporting Dave Reeve #103) and Simon Pavey (SP51) so we toured round the teams talking to Martin and Donna from Torque Racing with an injured Chris Corky (already trying to figure out a 2016 entry!) and enjoyed the hospitality ;-) from the Red Bull girls and Fernet stall (a Jagermeister like liquor!)

We had a great day getting up close to the action (sometimes a little scary close!) at the end of the Special in the hills of Iquique! Rest day for bikes tomorrow so we plan to visit the bivouac and show you some inside shots! Ciao for now.

Day 6 ! To Iquique - we saw the Start of the Special where Simon Pavey popped over to see us. We then caught him and Llel with all the action at various points when the race crossed the liason route!

Who says the Dakar has to be hard! :-). Chase The Race skipped to the beach yesterday for a fabulous fish lunch to break up our long day driving to Antofagasta! We then popped in on the bivouac and met our local friend CarlosFreire who filled the truck with water and us with wine!

A taste of some of the dune action - usually we are track side but sometimes you have to get the bigger picture!
