More Bath Edible Adventures this week...and this time we had a returning epicurean adventurer! With more overseas visitors in tow...thanks Sarah for bringing Amelia and Pete on a culinary crawl with us!! Both travelling from Australia on an epic European tour, glad that you had a spare moment to stop in Bath! So pleased that we delighted your tastebuds with our lovely local cheeses, in particular the award-winning Bath Blue from Bath Soft Cheese ! To quote: "I'm not a blue cheese fan, but hey when in Bath!" - and then proceeded to wolf down the Blue with gusto, exclaiming "this is great!" It was a pleasure to spend the evening with you all! Thanks again Sarah!

Bath Edible Adventures a week ago - thanks to Amy and Zara for coming aboard for an evening of foodie fun! It was a great to meet you both - and to have a good old natter about food, film...random gigs and Mary Berry!!

Mostly we lead small group foodie experiences, but on request we can cater for bigger groups...and so on Saturday we had a group of 11 lovely ladies who joined us for a wonderful evening of incredibly fine feasting! They chose a Bath Edible Adventure to form part of birthday celebrations and a girl's
weekend away. Thanks to Jacqui and Maebh - and all your friends - it was fun to share the evening with you!

What a fantastic weekend of Bath Edible Adventures we had! Finally the sun came out...and we were able to present our beautiful city in all its golden glory!! As well as sampling some of the tastiest of treats along the way! Hooray! Including these danity and delicious puff pastries from Thoughtful Bakery filled with a velvety wild garlic cream, and topped with local cheddar! Thanks to Paula and John for joining us - it was great to hear all about the flourishing food scene in and around Powys, Wales!

Another pleasurable evening of walking, talking and tastings! A week ago we moved about the city taking in the historical highights and best foodie spots! Our food fanatics this time were from Australia and originally the US (now living in London). We had a great evening swappng foodie tips from our combined travels - a big thanks to Bianca and Kathryn! Looking forward to more tasty tours this weekend when we have a large group of 11 joining us!

While the weather may not be in our favour today...snow last time - lashing rain today! We will not let this spoil our foodie fun as we embark on our 2nd Bath Edible Adventure of the new season! We start in Queen Square this eve - and we'll try to visualise it as depicted here in all its beautiful and blossom-y glory (only a day ago)!

Despite the chilliness of the Big Beast from the East a few weeks ago...our foolhardy foodies from the US and London braved the elements to indulge in a four course feast!! Our first Bath Edible Adventure of the new 2018 season, and it was pleasure....and luckily although it was postponed by a day - we managed to 'coldfoot' it around the city with great enthusiasm!! A big thanks to our group, who donned their walking boots and warm coats to enjoy a tour with us!!

Lacock is such a pretty little village - the perfect place for a day trip if you're staying in Bath. Oh..and there are some lovely tearooms and places to eat there too! 🍴🍴🍴

The National Trust village of Lacock, just a short drive from Bath, is full of history. Its cottages and inns date back to the 15th century! 🏡

Foodie escapades a go go - we've hardly had a moment to check in with any updates!! Here's our last post (well possibly our 2nd to last) from our Paris travels - just because it was particularly special...then we'll move on to the gorgeous, the downright graceful and of course we can't miss out 'the Grayson'!! More on this later, but now the penultimate Parisian plug is for the impressive but casual Septime - where we had the most extraordinary edible experience ....not excluding the excitement of setting our clip-board styled menu ablaze (culprit candle pictured)! Not so chic - stamping it out on the neo-industrial floor - oops. At Septime we ate among other things, a clever dish of scallops in buttermilk, a simple but perfectly cooked duck with elderflower and a dessert that came as an unexpected, but joyful mix of flavours - mushroom, pear puree and celery... and it worked! Formidable.

Just quick post in between our tasty tales from Paris...on Sunday we had a fantastic Bath Edible Adventure with some local (ish) ladies and their friend all the way from San Diego!! On our walk through the city we stopped off for some fine feasting - with our diners particularly loving the tasty Bath Chaps we devoured at the Garricks Head pub! The Pear, Pecan and Chocolate tartlets from local food hero Richard Bertinet's The Bertinet Bakery were also consumed with gusto!! All in all a great evening - thanks to Sarah for booking a Bath Edible Adventure as a treat for her friends!

A week ago we headed to Paris for what turned out to be a sublime epicurean odyssey! We will cover our Parisian edible adventures in a number of posts - because we tried so many utterly delicious dishes we'd struggle to squeeze them all into one! The first tasty morsels to pass our lips came in the form of a relaxed and very satisfying lunch at Chez Joséphine! Tucked away in the corner of a charming little square in the Marais - we sat in the autumnal sun to eat some non-trad french fayre! New to us - Monkey Bread - a souffle-esque (but more substantial) mozzarella and pesto concotion... so rich! This had a litte side of tomato soup - to warm our cockles...had it not been an unseasonal 24 degrees! We also had a plate of charcuterie plus little avocado & cucumber tartines - simple pleasures! Oh, nearly forgot...fresh figs roasted with rosemary and honey - these were super lush. This first foodie stop actually turmed out to be one of my favourites of the weekend!!

Beautifully gilded in gold, The Ivy Bath Brasserie preview on Monday night proved not only to be a feast for the eyes, but for the taste buds too! Whoa…did we have an edible adventure all of our very own ... nibbling lobster & caviar cones secretly stashed with hidden bites of avocado! Then bowlfuls of hot arancini packed full of parmesan & truffle paraded the floor - while platters of baby leaves sprinkled with herby quinoa and edible flowers took centre stage. We then nearly lost ourselves in a frenzy of edible excitement when the CRÈME BRÛLÉE mini doughnuts headed our way...until we were presented with passion fruit pops!! White chocolate lollipops with a cheeky passion fruit ice-cream centre - bravo!. That's it, we officially ate enough canapés to constitute a full 5 course dinner, and so we'd say it was a hugely successful event! Thanks very much to the Ivy team - quite some party!

We loved our final feast (of the Great Bath Feast) last night...it was a beautiful evening and the city was alive with the sound of laughter and much merriment!! We hot-footed it through the back streets and secret side alleys of Bath picking up the tastiest treats along the way! Our adventurous food lovers on this tour were from Belgium, currently living in London - and they were fantastic company on our edible excursion! Many thanks Bastien & Selina for booking with us!

...so this week we have mainly been feasting!! Well it has been the Great Bath Feast after all! We've had some wonderful foodie travellers all the way from the U.S. stopping in Bath for a few nights as part of their trip around Europe! They loved the buns with all the trimmings... Our next group were international students from Bulgaria and the Czech Republic studying at the University of Bath. The students were in search of local bites that they hadn't sampled before...and luckily everything we tried on our culinary crawl was a first for them! Here are a few pics from our food-themed frolics this week! By the way the pickled pear pastry puffs with Bath Blue Cheese were little mouthfuls of joyousness! Thanks to The Thoughtful Bread Company

Gloriously gooey Bath Soft Cheese piled on top of Bath Oliver biscuits tasted soooo good on edible adventure last night! This time some lovely ladies from Newcastle joined our delicious tour to saunter through the spectacular streets of Bath sampling the best local produce! The Bath Buns from award winning The Thoughtful Bread Company were a real hit too!

We thought we'd leave the best until last with our third and final 'throwback to the weekend' post! ...and this is it our first Ever Bath Edible Adventure tour - and what a wonderful evening it was! There's only one way to describe it....as smooth as a syllabub and as pleasurable as a plum pudding with lashings of custard!! Our first intrepid epicurean adventurers were a delight to have aboard our maiden voyage - so many thanks to Sarah and Simon who chose to celebrate Simon's (belated) birthday with a gastronomic gallop around our beautiful city of Bath! Can't wait for our next tour this weekend!

Next up was the Bath Good Food Award's afternoon bash to celebrate the best local producers - held at the shiny new Apex Hotel Bath. We had fun chatting to other foodie enthusiasts, and were pleased to see that many of the winning producer's foods are already set to feature on our tours like The Thoughtful Bread Company! We also look forward to showcasing other great producers - how sweet were these two little chaps from Henny & Joe's Chai!

Yesterday could not have been more food-themed! We may have to cover 3 very different experiences in 3 seperate posts, but let's start with Bath Artisan Market! Queen Square is a beautiful green space in the heart of the city, and it had a real buzz about it with the market making its monthly appearance! These carrot and pecan little fellows from The Nestcake Caravan naturally caught our eye! Yum-Oh!

The evening with Yotam Ottolenghi and Helen Koh earlier this week was sooo good!! Their new book hits the sweet spot when it comes to creative and crowd-pleasing confections! We loved the Lemon & Blackcurrant Stripe cake demo - we'll definitely be trying this one at home!
