IRISH WILD ATLANTIC WAY TOUR 2025

Christmas is nearly upon us, and what a daugnting prospect that is! Family coming around, all bedecked in Christmas jumpers, and waiting for the starting pistol to be fired, so that they can eat and drink you out of house and home, ho ho ho! Anyway, there's always the back door and a quick exit on the bike.. (You can tell her that I said it would be OK).

So, in order to have something to look forward to in 2025, here is a quick and dirty overview of next September's Vertu BMW Wild Atlantic Way Tour to Ireland.....

We depart on Thursday 11th September, riding over Snowdonia to Holyhead, to catch the mid-afternoon ferry to Dublin. Upon arrival we have a short ride to our first hotel to the west of the city. On Friday, avoiding the main roads, we ride south west, joining the Wild Atlantic Way soon after dinnertime, which we follow for the next four days, with overnight stays in West Cork, Killarney, Spanish Point and Westport, before turning inland to spend our penultime night in Kilkenny. Our last night in Ireland will be in Bray near to Dublin, and on that night we have arranged a coach to take the group up into the Wicklow Mountains for an Irish Ceilidh and a meal.

Boarding the ferry the next afternoon, we arrive back in Holyhead around 6.00 pm, and as we will be tired by this point, we've booked a hotel near to the port before riding home the following morning.

The package includes eight nights bed breakfast and evening meal accommodation at tried and tested, mainly 4-star, hotels, return ferries, and of course comprehensive tour guidance notes/maps, GPX routes, with your's truly chaperoning you all the way around.

The package cost of the tour is as follows:-

One Rider, single bike, single room - £1995.00

Rider & Pillion, single bike, double room - £2495.00

Two riders, two bikes, twin room - £1495.00/person. (NB if you wish to book shared accommodation, please name and shame your roomie).

We will be taking bookings in the first few weeks of 2025, and if you want a place please be sure to book early as there has already been a lot of enquiries and places will sell out quickly.

Joking aside, have yourselves a Very Merry Christmas and I'm already looking forward to riding with you in 2025 and sharing some craic over a pint or two of Guinness.

Ride safe in 2025, make it a Happy New Year!

THOUGHTFUL CHRISTMAS

I consider myself blessed.... Over the years I have met so many great people through the medium of motorcycling, many of whom have enriched my life immeasurably.

As we approach the end of another year, I find myself reflecting on the passing of good friends this year, who are gone but not forgotten.

Three score years and ten..... It's not a practice run, so grab every opportunity with both hands, and if you have unfulfilled dreams and aspirations, dont keep putting them off, you only get one life so live it xx

Knowing that I've travelled quite a bit, people often ask me, "whats your happy place to be on a motorbike?". I never hesitate in saying Ireland! For me it has everything; quiet roads, friendly (insane) people who almost speak English, fantastic scenery, very few speed cameras, great accommodation and food, and last but not least 'Craic'.

So, we have organised several tours to the Emerald Isles again in 2025, including in September a Vertu BMW Motorrad tour around much of the Wild Atlantic Way.

Arriving in Dublin's fair city, where the girls are so pretty, we will ride out via Co Kildare, through West Cork, on via Co Kerry, into Co Clare and onto Co Mayo, before returning back to Dublin through Kilkenny.

Seven nights, departing on Thu 11th September and returning on Thu 18th September.

The route, pace and duration of the days will be pillion friends and we will be be staying in tried and tested, mostly 4 star, accommodation on a half board basis, so you will only have to find your petrol and Guinness money !!

I'm still fine tuning the costs, but I will post full details on here shortly when I have finalised all the ferry and hotel arrangement's but you can express an interest in advance by dropping me a message on here or sending an email to [email protected], or a text to 07702 664592.

Good luck, to be sure!

Now there’s a surprise ‘not’ !

Yesterday’s outcome to the motorcycles in bus lanes consultation shows the non-existent political concern for motorcyclists.

Last 2 places snapped up on the Thailand Tour 2025, Mark and Simon, making a Dirty Dozen riders. We’ll start a standby list now in case anyone drops out, and if 8 names build up on this standby list we could run with 2 groups of 10 subject to motorbike rental availability x

I'm getting to a certain age, and have realised that there are still lots of holes in my travel bucket list Dear Lisa, that need to be filled before I run out of time! So, I decided that I am going to go on an exotic motorbike tour every year until I cant do it anymore.. (or I run out of brass). This year it was the India Himalayas, next year it will be Thailand.

The dates are depart Manchester on Fri 28 Feb, return Sun Mar 16.

These are not commercially organised tours in the name of Eurobiketrans, but I will be coordinating the travel, motorbike rental , accommodation and tour guidance etc. Payment to service providers will be made direct from the individual travellers who will also book their own return flights which are currently around £750.00.

10 friends, all good blokes who like a beer and a laugh, who were with us in India in June, are coming to Thailand and the tour is capped at 12 riders. So, we have two places left, and it would be great if two Eurobiketrans customers who have travelled with us in Europe came along to Thailand.

Plus, for the bike rental in Thailand, it'll be much cheaper if you can bike share with other riders - if we can fit four riders on one bike you'll only pay 25% of the rental charge...

Send a message or email me on [email protected] if you are interested.

People have to leave their vehicles because there is no way to tow them.

Avoid travelling this area unless it is absolutely necessary.

29/10/2024

The B1257 between Helmsley and Stokesley, known in the biking community as the Yorkshire TT, is a very popular road due to its many demanding corners and undulating nature. If you are a regular user of this road or intend to ride that way in the future please be aware of this bridleway which is being routed along a section of the road, apparently without additional signage.

**B1257 St Aelred's Pilgrim trail – Motorists please be aware of horse riders, walkers and cyclists on the road at Low Mill**

The various routes (walking, cycling, and horse riding) for St Aelred’s Pilgrim trail are now being finalised. The routes largely use existing public rights of way, including a road crossing of the B1257 just North of Fangdale Beck (see map), between Chop Gate and Helmsley, where the pilgrim trail follows the B1257 for about one hundred metres.

The B1257 is generally regarded as a fast road, verges on this section are non-existent, and sight lines are not always as good as they could be. For these reasons please slow down and take extra care in this area, and be aware that you may meet horses, walkers (including children and dogs), pedal cycles and e-bikes in the road.

Routing the trail along the road is by necessity rather than choice, as accessible options, particularly for horse riders and cyclists, are limited.

The Teutonic Eagle has Landed in the Vertu BMW Motorrad showrooms around Yorkshire and the North East. I rode down to Shipley last Thursday to have a sit on one, and will in due course test ride it and report back. Although initially not turned on by the radical rework I have to admit that it grows on you. GSA’s, were never known for being sexy, if you were looking for sexy you would keep riding past Berlin and under the Mont Blanc tunnel into Italy! However utilatarian and functionality has huge appeal, as BMW's sales stand testament. Design never stands still, so whether this is a timely evolution or a brave revolution, only time will tell. Beauty and functionality is in the eye of the beholder .

BMW are definitely going to sell a shed load of these bikes and, like a Tiger Tank, their brave design Blitzkrieg isnt going to U-Turn!

VERTU BMW MOTORRAD ANNUAL YEAR END KNEES UP

LEEDS CITY CENTRE - Kick Off 12:30h - Sat 7th December 2025

Every year, for the past 10 years, since Vertu BMW Motorrad (formerly Allan Jefferies BMW), and Eurobiketrans started to work together, providing exclusive tours for their customers, we have arranged a year-end social gathering, where those who have ridden with us on tours earlier that year, or in previous years, come together to catch up with their fellow riders and pillions.

In earlier years we have booked a restaurant for an evening meal, one year we went away overnight for a country B&B and last year a group of us travelled on the Ale Trail by train to Stalybridge and back which was great fun.

This year we will focus on low key and informal, meeting at the Scarborough (Taps) Hotel directly opposite Leeds Central Station at 12:30 pm, circulating around the city centre pausing for sustenance along the way, ending at a curry restaurant around teatime.

Leeds was the chosen city to have this get-together due to its impressive transport infrastucture, abundance of hostelries and hotels should attendees wish to stay over.

We are not going to book anything in advance but as Leeds United are playing at home on the 7th (12:30h kick off) the city will be busy especially in this period running up to Christmas.

Of course due to the informal nature of the gathering, you can just check in for a quick drink to say hello at the Scarborough Taps at 12:30-13:30h, stay with the group for the whole day, or just join us later in the afternoon for the meal.

During the course of the day you can WhatsApp message me and I will reply with a live location. Tel 07702 664592

Hope to see you on the day, if not catch up soon and Happy Christmas ###
