All abilities catered for. Huge repeat business. Stuart Hall Cycling grew out of a passion for cycling in Europe and the enjoyment of introducing other cyclists to the joys of training in Mallorca, riding the iconic Alpine and Pyrenean climbs and participating in European sportives. We have been riding in Mallorca for 30 years, so our knowledge of the best routes is unparalleled. For us, cycling i

n Mallorca is all about the flow of the bunch along beautiful, traffic-free lanes, soaking up the sunshine – we guarantee we’ll take you along roads you didn’t know were there (and probably some you wish you didn’t!). Our experience of European sportives and routes is equally deep – Stuart Hall first rode the Marmotte in 1988 and has been back most years since, and rarely miss the opportunity to watch the Tour and ride some of the climbs. Our aim is to provide memorable cycling holidays and training camps that are open to everyone. We strive to provide good quality cycling at a price that represents good value for money and our focus is on bunch riding – introducing you to the excitement of riding in a bunch if it’s not something you’ve experienced before, and developing your bunch etiquette to improve your cycling if you have. On our trips, we don’t only want you to ride your bike, we want you to learn to ride it better. We structure our rides to maximise your cycling experience and enjoyment, and will help you understand how best to use your equipment. We welcome all levels of cyclists – from those new to cycling to current pros (groups from NFTO and 24/7 joined us in 2015). The popularity of our camps grows every year and our return rate is over 80%, which means that over the years, you’ll find a lot of familiar faces to ride with – and enjoy a drink in the bar with afterwards! Most of our business comes via word of mouth – we’ll see if this changes now that I’ve bowed to pressure and moved into the 21st century with my website…

Success, however, isn’t just about the number of people and the return rate, but also about how we see riders developing as we get to know them on our trips. It’s extremely rewarding seeing the progress of some of those new to cycling who’ve been with us, and we particularly like encouraging young riders. Luke Rowe (Sky), Andrew Roche (Motorpoint), James Lewis (NFTO), James McLaughlin (Madison Genesis), Dexter Gardias (ONE Pro Cycling) and Dan Pearson (Champion Systems) are just some of the names you may recognise who’ve been on Stuart Hall Cycling camps over the years… Not to forget Marcin Białobłocki (ONE Pro Cycling) who recently won the final stage time trial in the Tour of Poland), and Rhys Lloyd (NFTO) both of whom have previously been ride leaders for us for many years.

Raid Pyrenees Day 3 - the triple header ⛰️⛰️⛰️ We headed for the clouds on the Col du Tourmalet as the weather turned a little bit dramatic! We had a long and fairly chilly descent but luckily we still had the Col d’Aspin and the Col de Peyresourde to warm up again! Try packing more epicness into a 98km ride!

Raid Pyrenees day 2! Beautiful September sunshine greeted us as we hit the ‘Hautes-Pyrénées’ proper. We got warmed up on the cat 2 Col de Marie-Blanque before we moved on to the mighty Col d’Aubisque, the first HC test of the week! 2 hours of climbing for many but luckily plenty of spectacular scenery to look at on the way up!

Here we go again! Our second French RAID Pyrenees of 2024 with a large group and numerous nations represented! Plenty of fresh and fast legs on the traditional opening ‘medium’ mountain stage through the lush green Basque Country! 🤩 One of us learned that ‘tortilla de pommes de terre’ is not a type of apple tart upon biting into one! The feet are up now because the big cols start tomorrow 💪

Raid Alpine 2024 Day 7

The last day had three climbs to finish out a spectacular Raid:
1. Coll Saint-Martin to get us up and out of our beds.
2. Coll du Turini to show us the last of the big climbs in the south of France.
3. Col d'Eze which showed us a spectacular entrance into Nice.

A great week that will live long in our memories. If you would like to experience the cycling advdnture of a lifetime why not check our cycling trips to paradise out Stuart Hall Cycling.

Special credit to Ciarán Clissman for his spectacular photography.

Raid Alpine 2024 Day 5

Cycling a Raid is all about pushing yourself to get up that next col. It is even better to do it with your friends. The group has really helped each other over the challenges this week and we all have memories and friendships to last a lifetime. Two more days to Nice.

Raid Alpine 2024 Day 4

A cotton wool universe greeted the riders this morning climbing up into the top of the world on Col du Galibier.
A great descent to La Grave and then surmounting the formidable Alpe d'Huez in fab sunshine. All followed up by a refreshing pint. What's better?
What's up for tomorrow?

Raid Alpine 2024 Day 3
Two big climbs cheerfully conquered today: Coll de I'Iseran and Col du Telegraph. There might have been a small bit of grunt and grumbling on the way up but all was forgiven by the thrill of the sights and the descent.
Not to be forgotten is the history of this historically contested area. We lunched beside the formidable Redoute Marie-Thérèse built as part of the Esseillon Barrier that fortified the French border over the centuries.

Raid Alpine Day 2
A critical part of a Raid is replenishing food and drink. Nowhere can you eat or drink with more spectacular backdrops than the Alpes, well most of the time! And most importantly the essentail rehydration after the ride!

The beautiful Lagos de Covadonga climb followed by a long descent through a gorge completed our trip to the Picos yesterday, a great ride to finish a truly memorable trip. 700km with 15,000m of climbing over 6 days, and some brutally steep gradients! Time for some recovery…

133km of gorgeous little roads in the Picos today, most (but not all!) with great surfaces, breathtaking views, and even more “breathtaking” climbs. Where else does a 5% gradient actually mean 12% and 10% mean 18%?! Another fantastic and epic day out on the bike 🚲 🚲 ⛰️ ⛰️

A gentler day to flush out the legs after the climbing of the last two days. The senery is so beautiful, remote and unspoiled, and with 55km basically downhill, it was a good day!
