Jump into a world of seals and dolphins with our Marine specialists during our trips where we will teach you all about our mammal friends that we may encounter during our trip!

Including behaviours, lifestyles and IDing between the different types of seals and dolphins, dangers to the UK colonies and much much more!

EXPLORE SNORKELING!

Each of our boat tours comes with an optional extra of a 30 minute guided snorkel with one of our marine guides for a short session in the water

You will be provided with the safety equipment such as a buoyancy aid and tow float

Our guides will point out what they can find in the water and take photos for you, even better bring your own waterproof camera and see what you can spot!

We will also be running fortnightly half day trips with optional snorkeling at different sites on the trip where you can either kick back and enjoy the trip and the scenery or book your guided snorkeling!

Did you know the Menai was carved out around 200,000 years ago by the glaciers from snowdonia and the ice streams from the Irish sea from the last Ice Age!

Explore Harbour Porpoise !

A harbour porposie is one of the smallest ocean living mammals and can be seen on the Menai Strait

They are very easily distinguished from our dolphin friends by their small in length with growing to a max of 2m, stocky bodies and colouring

They can live up to 20 years!

Harbour porpoises are pretty shy and tend to keep well away from the boats, but if we do see any we will be sure to point them out to you!

EXPLORE Cormorants and Shags

You might see these guys chillin on a rock, with their wings spread right out looking all majestic out to sea

Cormorants and Shags are pretty similar but s**gs a bit smaller and slimmer with a steep forehead

But the similarities can be confusing for even the most avid bird watcher!

Bring your binoculars on the trip and lets point out the differences between the 2 for you

Aboard Eco Boat Tours, we have a no anchoring policy on our vessels

Anchoring damages the sea bed from just when it lands (and kills whatever it lands on) but also in higher winds the anchor might drag along the sea bed which means dragging up everything with it and destroying the eco systems under the water

So, unless in an absolute EMERGENCY we have an absolutely no anchoring policy!

Did you know there are 6 types of jelly fish that can be found in the uk?

Some people are a bit worried about jellies, but seeing them in the water they are so graceful and the light and their colours are amazing 🥰

As with all marine life - do not touch!

Some facts about jellyfish!

This little guy on the right is called a compass jellyfish - can you guess why?
Our biggest species of jelly is the barrel jellyfish
Did you know a jellyfish and coral are close cousins?

As long as you keep your distance they will not effect you and you can watch them moving through the water

Whoooo lives in a pineapple under the sea!!!

No this is not Patrick from Spongebob, this is a commonly found star fish we find in our waters and we can usually find them in rockpools when the tide has gone out

-Starfish can grow back their arms / legs
-They have no brain or blood
-They eat mussles and clams
-The smallest starfish in the UK is the cushion which grows up to a teeny tiny 3cm!

We LOVE these little guys!

Did you know that a Puffin can dive up to 60m under water?!

Event though they can dive that deep, they will only be under the water for about 20-30 seconds at a time

Bring your binoculars if you have anything and a brew and come and check out these little beauties on our trip 🥰

Eco Boat Tours - Sunset Cruise

Around about now - you could be boarding the boat ready to take a trip to go and see the sunset!

We are running these on a Saturday evening with 10 spots available each week

We set off from the pier and take a leisurely cruise around to the other side of Puffin Island where we can watch the sunset

On your trip we will be talking all about the marine life that lives in the area, lead by our marine specialists and our experienced skippers finishing off with seeing the sunset over the ocean and heading back to land

This can be booked direct on our website on www.ecoboattours.co.uk with limited spaces each week so early booking is advised!

*Please note - sunsets are the aim but the perfect sunset photo can not be guaranteed as this is out of our control*

Everyone loves the seals!
They are amazing!

But we need to remember - they are not pets!
They are wild animals
But as long as we, as humans treat them with respect - they will do the same with us!

As part of our tours we will teach you about our marine mammal friends

If you are booked in for the snorkel, we will also teach you how to act whilst you are in the water

When we see a seal (in the water or on land)
-We do not chase
-We do not approach
-We do not corner
-We keep quiet
-We don't touch

However, when you are in the water - they may be a bit curious and sometimes they will swim up and pop up next to you or swim under neath you which is amazing as we always feel so privileged to be greeted in such a way!

Please note - this does not happen on land - is a seal is hauled out it is because it is resting either from swimming, storms or in a food coma! Do not bring attention to yourself if a seal is hauled out because going back into the water before it is ready can be life threatening!

You have the option to add on a snorkel sea swim as part of your trip!

As part of the 2.5 hour round trip, there will be a 30 minute stop off just off Puffin Island.

Here you have the option of jumping in the water with one of our snorkel guides so you can see the seals from the water itself!

If you are booked on the snorkel add on, you will need to bring your own exposure protection and snorkel kit - however sets will also be available to purchase on the boat if you wished to.

As part of our safety promise to you - every person snorkelling will be provided not only with a brighty coloured buoyancy aid, but also a bright tow float as well to make sure you are double as visible as usual!

Dont worry though - this is just a precaution - your guide will be with you in the water and help you out as well 🤿

This is a Snakelock Anemone, they can be found under the surface of the water in North Wales and they are beautiful to see doing their mexican wave in the water
