😍5 years ago we opened the doors to "Gerties Getaway" and welcomed our very first guests......and what a 5 years it has been!

😍We have welcomed hundreds of guests with many becoming regular guests (with one set of guests having returned a staggering 19 times!)

🌟We have won multiple awards from Trip Advisor, Airbnb and Luxe Magazine (to name but a few😛)

🌞We have amassed a staggering following on social media of over 6,000 followers /likes

A bit about us

🐶 Having 3 dogs ourselves we always struggled to find nice holiday accommodation that didn't mean lowering our (very high) standards - why would we want to stay somewhere that wasn’t as nice as our own home?

💕Gerties was initially bought as as a holiday home for ourselves to be close to family members but quickly we realised there were lots of people just like us that wanted to have time away (with and without their dogs) but didn’t want to compromise on the level of comfort and cleanliness

🐕 Gerties Getaway is named after our “middle” dog - Gertie, now a spritely (and a little tubby) 8 year old Lhasa Apso

The success of Gerties Getaway(and a lockdown change of Career) spurred us on to follow our dreams , "Coastal Cottages Northumberland was established and over the following few years we renovated and opened our other LUXURY dog friendly holiday homes

Wish you were here? ❤️

Monday morning Marina glows 💛 the Amble Marina looking stunning in sunset glows here, I never tire of these scenes I’m biased as they’re on my doorstep but it’s one of the best places to catch the sunset.

Combined with a stop at one of the harbour side restaurants for food or drinks and a stroll along the pier and harbour it’s just a lovely way to end the day.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve droned along here now but there’ll be many more to come!

We are changing it up a bit this weekend and taking our very own Gertie, Tilly and Dexter away for a short break to North Yorkshire, staying at the lovely Reeth Holiday Cottages
I totally forgot how exciting having some time away from home in a new place is for them!
So if you’re planning a short trip or holiday and fancy miles and miles of beautiful beaches, amazing food, fantastic local independent shops and friendly locals get in touch!
