Days 9 & 10. Ho Chi Minh City also known as Saigon our last stop on our North to South Tour of Vietnam. A bustling metropolis, ancient charm meeting modern architecture. We flew from Hue into Ho Chi Minh and went straight for lunch then to the War Remnants Museum which I found quite hard to comprehend. We could walk through tunnels which got smaller and smaller, I just about managed the first one I can’t imagine how awful it must have been having to stay inside knowing what was happening above ground. After this we headed to our hotel, had time to ourselves for dinner and to have a wander around the city which was buzzing with families and friends enjoying the weekend together. The next day we headed up the Mekong to Ben Tre a province with lush landscapes and traditional river life in complete contrast to where we are staying! We walked through a village and headed to see coconuts being pressed for sweets, oils and handicrafts, a lovely lunch served then back to the hotel to get ready for our final dinner with our group where we say goodbye as we head off on our next stop Cambodia!

Day 8 Hue 🇻🇳 We stayed in a beautiful Eco Hotel next to the River, it was perfect and I could’ve easily relaxed there all day but it was not to be as again we had so much to fit in!!!

Day 7 We had a free morning but could choose somewhere to visit from a small list or chill at the hotel. The majority chose a visit to the Golden Hand Bridge (another tick off the bucket list!) which actually turned into one of the most surreal mornings of my life!!!
Sun World Ba Na Hills is 1,487 metres above sea level and oddly is a resort located in the Truong Son mountains! We were transported by a fairly long cable car ride with views stretching far and wide. We arrived above the clouds into a fairytale kingdom! Apparently the Vietnamese love it and call it their very own Disney!! There are hotels, shops, bars, restaurants, rollercoasters, fun fair rides, singers, dancers, actors, you name it they seem to have it! It was like a scene from a medieval town! Building work was still taking place all around this huge site and it was packed with tourists!
The main attraction for me was another cable car ride away and apparently this can be done separately but honestly for the OMG where am I factor I think you should go to the fairytale kingdom honestly you’d never see anything like it again!!
So with a Starbucks in hand - yes they even had one in the middle of nowhere, we got on the next cable car and there it was the Golden Hand Bridge literally in the middle of the sky with clouds surrounding. It was magnificent and well worth the journey to get there. The views were incredible. Over the bridge we walked taking everything in and over to the perfectly “manicured” gardens and magnificent Buddha statue.
So many questions were in my head, How? Why? Who?The logistics of everything was mind boggling!!
Anyway back to the cable car, a quick go on the rollercoaster, a buffet lunch (honestly never seen so much food and how do they get it all there!) and back on the cable car down to reality!
I still can’t get my head around it all!!!

Day 5 was spent flying from Hanoi to Da Nang with a few stops along the way then ending at our hotel in Hoi Ann, a UNESCO World Heritage Town.
Day 6 was a busy day!!!
✨ biking excursion through stunning villages, rice paddies and local farms (again we had a choice of transport I chose motor!!)
✨ traditional round basket boat navigating river communities and coconut forests
✨ Con being spun around in the boat!
✨ traditional fishing
✨ back on the bikes we headed to visit a farmers house where we learnt about their unique practices
✨ local buffalo came to say hello!
✨ milking the rice (I was a little too zealous!)
✨ a nice shoulder and foot massage!
✨ traditional Vietnamese pancake making
✨ a quick tour of Hoi An, lots of shops and a market to have a look around or walk along the river
✨ children being picked up from school
✨ stunning newly opened restaurant for dinner

A 3.5hr drive took us to Tuan Chau Island where we boarded our 5* cruise ship for an overnight stay in Halong Bay and another ✔️ off the bucket list for me!
✨ Cruise on Paradise Elegance (the food and service onboard was incredible
✨ Titov Island - named after a Russian Cosmonaut you can either relax on the beach or take a hike up the mountain, we did the latter but no regrets the views were amazing!
✨Luon Cave - we travelled under the limestone mountain to admire the stunning rock formation coming out the other end and seeing monkeys playing in the trees. A choice of going by kayak or bamboo boat (no brainier after the hike I chose the latter!)
✨Sunset Happy Hour (they liked Happy Hour in Vietnam!) followed by a wonderful meal
✨ I was up bright and early for a Tai Chi session on the top deck which was a great start to the day
✨ Sun Sot Cave - the largest cave in Halong Bay and it was huge!
✨ Back to port and our onward journey to Hanoi for our flight to Da Nang to start the next leg of our tour
