Two-Toed and Three-Toed Sloths: Costa Rica is home to two and three-toed sloths. While they might look similar, they belong to different families and have distinct behaviors and habitats.
Super Slow Metabolism: Sloths are famous for their slow metabolism, which means they move slowly to conserve energy. It can take up to a month for them to digest a single meal!
Tree Dwellers: Sloths spend most of their lives hanging upside down in trees. They have specially adapted claws that help them grip branches securely, making them expert climbers despite their slow pace.
Great Swimmers: Surprisingly, sloths are excellent swimmers. They can hold their breath for up to 40 minutes and are often seen swimming through rivers to move from one tree to another.
