We embarked on our first Sunset Steam Express journey of the summer season last month with 34046 Braunton. 🌇

As the sun dipped below the horizon, passengers were enveloped in a golden glow amongst the Surrey Hills; the perfect experience for slowing down, being present and appreciating the beauty around you. 😍

Introducing...First Class 🍾

You don’t need to dine on board to travel in style. In First Class you will be seated in elegant 1950s carriages with sumptuous vintage interiors and livery, large picture windows, plush armchair seating around tables, curtained windows, and a high level of on-board service.

You’ll be welcomed on board with sparkling wine, followed by a small selection of snacks to be enjoyed while taking in spectacular views of the passing countryside while tea and coffee is served by your liveried steward.

Our route 🛤️

Our train, pulled by either 61306 Mayflower or 70000 Britannia, will head south, through the suburbs of London, past Guildford, followed by a steep climb through the Surrey Hills, before descending through the Vale of Holmesdale, at the foot of the North Downs. We then pass through the market towns of Dorking and Reigate before heading back to the capital as the sun sets.

Today, we're looking back to when we welcomed London Food Writer, Gastro, onboard one of our trips in May. 🚂
