As a contemporary applied artist I design and create unique conceptual pieces. My work is like a visual devil's advocate creating pieces that question contradictions in life. Contradictions which push the boundaries and reveal the irony in life. I am inspired by experiences in my life and the changing world I am witnessing. These experiences have contributed to the depth of my life and I see the i
mpact social constructs influence society. My pieces involve pushing the realms of tradition and finding new techniques to produce traditional fabrics and textiles. I am a strong believer that the hand in tune with the mind is the greatest creative tool. This is the foundation of my making process respecting the hand which makes all my pieces unique. I mainly work with threads and vintage materials to make lace which I design inspired by everything around me. I use lace for it's revealing and concealing qualities I take photographs and draw then use photoshop to manipulate the images. I then began to stitch as 2 dimensional design, eventually they become moulds of 3 dimensional objects. I also work with photography transfer the images onto glass and mirror using the technique of sandblasting and I also use the images for screen printing using Puff Binder. This is a beautiful effect where the image or lettering is raise above the fabric and has a rich texture. I endeavor my art to invite the viewer to look into the depth of the meaning behind the visual object.
