A 17th century holiday home nestled in a beautiful village on the outskirts of Rye, East Sussex.
Accommodating up to 6 guests in 3 bedrooms, our dog friendly holiday cottage is the perfect base to explore this area of outstanding natural beauty.
With consistently high reviews, we pride ourselves on creating a home away from home for our guests.
We are not managed by an agent and therefore can offer any day check ins, early check ins/late check outs (where possible) and can tailor your experience to suit you. Whether it be arranging wine tours, private chefs, birthday cakes or celebrations, we are able to take the stress out of organising, so that you can truly relax!

I hope you have something lovely planned this weekend?
I love this shot of the patio from - this once underused area was overshadowed by a large workshop. It’s a very private, sunny space so when we first started planning the garden, creating a place for our guests to sit together and eat was very important to us. We demolished the workshop and replaced it with a full patio and the gorgeous Wentworth Elipse Imperial dining set from (not an AD although my 10% discount code across their site is still valid - LAVENDER10)
It’s now one of my favourite spots in the garden 🤍Do you have a favourite part of your garden?

This is us 👋🏼
We recently drove down to the cottage to spend a day with Laura snapping some new photos of the cottage.
Laura is a big believer in showing the face of your brand, so she managed to get a few photos of Flo and I and this is one of my favourites!
Since turning a certain age and my hormones going on some kind of rave inside my body, I haven’t really felt very ‘me’ - couple that with jaw surgery last year and my face not quite being the same as it was before - I’m reluctant to show myself on my grid. But I’m putting my big girl pants on today and posting this as I love it 🥰 - Flo is 13 now and I’ve really noticed her slowing down over the past few months. I want to get as many photos as I can of our precious girl 🤍

If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll know this rose was a gamble purchase. It cost £1 from
When I brought it home it looked a little sorry for itself, so I planted it in the cottage garden not really expecting it to survive.
Fast forward a few years and it’s one of my favourite roses. It always puts on a fabulous display of blooms not once, but twice a year💕 it’s great to use as a cut flower for our guests and goes to show, you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a pretty garden 💕

Did you know Lavender Cottage is located just a few miles from the golden sand dunes of Camber? A gorgeous beach with epic sunsets!
Camber is a firm favourite with the tourists during the summer months (if we get any summer months that is - anyone else hear the huge thunderstorm last night?! ⛈️)
When the beach is busy, we tend to hire some bikes from and cycle along the nature reserve to a quieter section of pebbly beach between Camber and Winchelsea. Often spotted a few seals in the sea along this stretch too! ❤️ it’s the perfect spot for a picnic 🥰

Along with our family, we own and manage Lavender Cottage - a 3 bedroom holiday cottage nestled in the East Sussex countryside just 2 miles from the popular medieval town of Rye ❤️
It’s also located near many of the regions award winning vineyards and we work closely with who can collect guests direct from the cottage door for a fun day of wine tasting! 🥂
The cottage is open all year round and we still have a few summer dates available - so get in touch!
Not managed by an agent, Lavender Cottage is our very much loved second home and this is reflected in your holiday experience with us. It’s nearly picnic season! ☀️ I absolutely love this photo of Flo captured by the brilliant Laura from last summer.
I haven’t been too active on instagram recently as we have been fully booked so I just haven’t had an opportunity to get to the cottage to take any photos! (I mean I could, but I’m not sure our guests would appreciate me rocking up with my camera 🤣)
But please indulge me with this one. I know I’m biased but Flo is such a beautiful girl ❤️❤️
We do have some availability over Summer and being dog friendly, our four legged guests also receive their own welcome gifts 🥰

Photo from the second bedroom and the paintings are by watercolour artist E A Phipspn. My husband found them and weirdly, Phipspn lived in Rye, plus the town my husband was born in and some of his work is also displayed in a museum near where we now live (which is neither close to Rye or where my Husband was born!) so it felt like fate to buy a few pieces of his work ❤️ x

Desperate to see (and smell) the garden full of roses.
To spend an afternoon on the patio with the sun on my face 🥰 I love this seating area at the cottage. It’s such a private space and an absolute sun trap!
We had a few hours of sunshine yesterday and it was lovely! (Although we used all those precious minutes tidying the garden, but we still enjoyed it!)

Is transformation Tuesday still a thing?! 🤷🏻‍♀️
If it is, the cottage kitchen is definitely worthy of a grid post!
The kitchen we inherited was very dark, very cramped and nothing really fitted the space. The floor was damp, most of the floor tiles were cracked and the freezer was located in the lounge (to think the previous owners rented it like this 😳😳)
Fast forward and we now have a bright, fresh, fitted kitchen. It’s still cosy 🥰 but a much nicer space to walk into 🤩 ###

Welcome….I always like our guests to receive a nice welcome when they first arrive at Lavender Cottage.
From the pretty garden, to the full to the brim welcome basket waiting on the other side of that door!
And I like the cottage to smell nice! Thanks to it being spotlessly clean by and our lovely diffusers from .
Whenever I stay anywhere, I don’t like walking into a musty smelling holiday home, furnished with odds and ends that look like they’ve been discarded from the owners actual home….do you know what I mean?
Everything in Lavender Cottage is meant for Lavender Cottage. Every detail is intentional….💜

My name is Lucy and along with my family, I own and manage Lavender Cottage - a 3 bedroom 17th Century weatherboard cottage in the beautiful village of Iden, on the outskirts of Rye, East Sussex.
Our cosy cottage sleeps up to 6 guests, is dog friendly, has an enclosed garden and parking for up to 3 cars.
We are incredibly lucky to be situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty and are nestled amongst many of the regions award winning vineyards.
The medieval town of Rye has an abundance of pubs, restaurants and independent shops and a few miles further along the coast will bring you to the golden sand dunes of Camber beach.

I’m always a bit stumped by this corner…
It’s quite big (too big not to have anything in it) yet it’s quite shady and can really feel that coastal breeze when it whips round!
I purchased this tub back in Spring and so far so good! 🤞🏼behind it is a rose that’s maturing lovely and my mother in law bought us a wonderful choisya when we first took ownership - which has only just decided to grow! So maybe I’ve finally cracked it! 🤞🏼🤞🏼 only taken us 5 years 😂 ###

I’ve noticed a lot more butterflies in the garden this year….and the cosmos have been amazing too! . I’m looking forward to going to the cottage in a few days, so I can sit and watch the wildlife in the garden. My favourite time of day is first thing in the morning before everyone wakes up, sitting with a coffee on the patio listening to all the different bird calls and watching the butterflies 🥰 .
