I know this is slightly giving away my age, but as Max Bygraves used to say, "I'm gonna' tell you a story...."
Back in 2013, i was hired by Bwark Films to work in a studio in East London on a film being shot under a working title (I think it was "The Long Goodbye"). They had a couple of Tipi canvasses, but no poles and no clue as to how to build them. During a previous meeting in Sydney, Australia, someone recommended Big Hill Tipis to be contacted- to this day i have no idea who that was!
At the end of the shoot a week later, i bought the canvasses from them and added them to my stock- i only use the smaller one- a 14' decorated American Made Tipi.
Today it went up again for tomorrow night (hopefully the wind and rain will have abated by then) in the beautiful garden of Diana and Peter for their son Henry at Maxted Street.
These structures all have a story to tell, they mostly stand and listen to the sounds of celebration, give shelter to their occupants, allow private moments away from the gaze of others.
They are built, taken down and built again in a new place- the location changes, but the memories remain within and it's energy increases, each time, again and again.
First pic is in Stratford, 2013. Next 2 are from today. (Kind of makes me think of an animal being released into the wild!)
Have a great one Henry!...Oh- I almost forgot-the name of the film? Inbetweeners 2!
