Today is a public holiday here in Cyprus. The day is “Kataklysmos” (Water Festival) and is a religious and popular feast celebrated in Cyprus.

“Kataklysmos”, which means flood, is found in the book of Genesis and in the Greek myth of Deukalion. In both cases, it refers to the destruction by flood of almost all-living creatures in order to give birth to a new and moral generation.

Celebrations include various games, swimming competitions, boat races, performances of folk dances, competitions of popular traditional songs known as “tsattista”, live music performances by famous Greek and Cypriot singers. The most popular custom of “Kataklysmos” is the throwing of water to one another (symbolises the purification of the body and soul) so be aware!

This Thursday morning in sunny and warm Cyprus, we're excited to share some fantastic feedback from our recent guests, Andy and Louise. They recently stayed at Villa 491394, and here's what they had to say!

We had a wonderful stay in the villa,2 adults and 3 teenagers. We had 10 days of fun laughter comfortable sleep and wonderful views. The Villa itself is modern and well equipped with everything you need. The beds are comfortable. The Pool area is beautiful and the loungers very relaxing. The pool itself is such a lovely size, 13 x 5 metres is just fantastic in a villa and in our experience very rare. I did 62 lengths every day which was half a mile swim. Helped keep the holiday weight off. Outdoor eating area and bbq were great, and sink and utilities were great and very clean, we cooked 2 fabulous bbq during our stay. The Villa is easy to find and in a fantastic location on the very tip of a steep hill in a peaceful culde sac with lovely neighbours. Very little noise from anywhere apart from the wind. We would 100% come back and stay here without hesitation. Thank you guys for a wonderful holiday home.

We hired Villa 19283 with The Villa Group, Cyprus. As two friends with 2x young teenage boys and my friend's Mother, we wanted a Villa slightly excluded from the hustle and bustle of Touristy areas such as Peiya / Coral Bay. Well, what can I say…. 🤩 WOW This Villa certainly delivered, out of all the villas I have hired over the years I can honestly say this one beat them all hands down! The level of standard was of that of a 5+** hotel. Everything you could wish for was catered for and I am still thinking of how I can fault something - and thankfully I can’t - not even the weather 😝 We arrived to a fantastic welcome pack of fresh Milk, fruits, bread, ham, water and more. The Villa was well equipped with utensils, cutlery, washing facilities and absolutely spotlessly clean. The pool too was fantastic, possibly around 4ft deep but all on one level so no deep end making it much safer for children not to mention and a lovely 29’c so warm enough to enjoy! The location itself was too fantastic, secluded yet only 8min from the lovely seaside harbour of Latchi. Within walking distance of only 5 min was Ttasski Beach which again presented itself with a little restaurant for beer and food. Savvas the owner's Father visited us on 3 occasions to ensure we were ok and had everything we needed, he was a lovely gentleman and we felt rest assured and not at all bothered that he was ensuring we were happy and ok. I will certainly be back to this Villa again, we all loved every minute of being there. Thanks again.

Commemorative Event for the Placement of the Resistance Bus in Paphos took place yesterday.

The Municipality of Paphos, in collaboration with the province's resistance fighters, hosted the special event to place the iconic Resistance Bus in its dedicated area at the Hospital roundabout.

Marking 50 years since the infamous coup, Paphos is set to honour the city's and province's brave resistance efforts. The centrepiece of this significant event is the installation of the Resistance Bus in a specially designed shelter by the Municipality of Paphos. Key figures addressing the event will include the Archbishop of Cyprus, George, Mayor Phaidonas Phaidonos, and the President of the Paphos Resistance Organization, Andreas Theodorou.

The evening was enriched with a cultural program featuring music, speeches, and visuals, all themed around "The Bus of Resistance." This artistic presentation will be performed by the Musical Companions group.

My husband, adult son and myself spent a week at the villa and it was great. The location was amazing as were the views. The pictures don't do the views justice. I spent the week on a lounger by the pool looking at the views or in the pool looking at the views. It was so peaceful and relaxing and we were not overlooked by any other villa so very private. You definitely need a car, preferably a big one as the road to the villa is steep and winding. Polis is just up the road with great restaurants and the beach a bit further on, again you need a car, but very easy to drive here. We arrived late at night so the food left by the owner was well received, the best assortment of any villa we have stayed at ( bread, cheese, ham, milk, juice, wine, cereal, cake and fresh oranges.) We definitely would love to return and would recommend. The villa was spacious and homely with everything we needed.
