Another What 3 words fail 😐. Im really not a fan, its useless in the hills because it doesn’t link up to OS mapping, but it relies on people correcly pronouncing/hearing potentially complex words in a weird combination. It may work ok in an urban/suburban context but give me OS Locate any day. Free app - super accurate location fix with numbers, which are less easy to mishear/misread.

A Lovely few days in the Lakes on a mini summer expedition based out of Black Sail YH - about the closest it gets to a European Refuge experience - with a cadet group from Chester. Biblical horizontal rain and wind in day 1 gave way to a lovely sunny day 2 and sunset with a greyish but basically dry day 3, finishing off with coffee and food at Wasdale Head Inn - top trip and many thanks to Simon from YHA Black Sail for looking after us so well and with a sense of humour 👍😄

So true … and I especially like the “I have never conquered or beaten a mountain”. … if you are lucky, the mountain tolerates you and you succeed but it is never conquered or beaten … horrible bucket list type language !

A fantastic couple of weeks delivering Intro rock climber courses for CCAT- it may have been ‘intro’ but we delivered the full range of Welsh climbing experiences from woody crags, A*5 sport limestone, lonely mountain crags above Bleanau Ffestiniog, Tremadog, Holyhead, Ogwen and not forgetting that classic welsh gift - Llanberis slate. The grades weren’t exactly beginner either with the group getting up slate 6a and HVS trad by the end 👏 definitely one of those times when work and fun totally merge 😄

Phew! Mine Leader passed 😄. A great day - Ill repeat my thanks to the assessment group and to Nigel Atkins for stepping in to assess. Particular thanks go to Terry Thomas for dragging me down my early mines, getting me hooked and helping in the journey. Also thanks to all the other people who have assisted in any way - too numerous to list but you will know who uou are 🙏

Actually no, a crag climbing day in South Wales !!! Bonkers weather but at least the clients were well briefed and prepared for the possibility 😄 Just one of the benefits of using experienced, qualified instructors 👍

Well its great to be back ! Climb & Trek are in the Brecon Beacons for two days in preparation for delivering a week of navigation training and climbing in the area next week. There are definitely worse spots to camp up for the night 😄
