Another incredible evening at the Pinsent Masons London office last week hosting a Corporate Olympic Wine Tasting event for their clients.

This time our tasting journey featured some interesting wines from the UK, Germany, Australia, France, China, and the USA. Each bottle was tasted blind to challenge our guests & I think it’s safe to say that the winners must have been doing their homework🍷& very much earned their places on the ‘podium’ to take home the bronze, silver & gold medals! 🏅

We completed the evening with a fun team quiz which brought out everyone's competitive side! Congratulations to the winning team who took home beautiful boxed bottle’s of Nyetimber, the official sparkling wine sponsor of the Paris Games! 🍾To the losing team, we hope you enjoy your new wooden spoons! 🥄 🤭

When you imagine a wine tasting, perhaps you envision people meticulously analysing their wine, discussing aromas and acidity. While that’s one way to enjoy wine, it’s not what we do at Club Vino.

We’re all about storytelling, creating relaxed atmospheres filled with lively conversation and warmth.

Anyone recognise this legend? 🍷

If I had been growing in the UK in the 80’s then I’m sure this guy would have been my Idol.

Since moving to the UK I had heard all about the legendary connoisseur of wine, OZ Clarke and what a pleasure to finally meet him at a fantastic New Zealand Wine event in London Last week.

He was a true professional and is his passion for wine was contagious, it reminded me just why we started Club Vino—to share the joy, stories, and richness that every bottle holds.clarke

🍾 2023 … what an absolute year for Club Vino. Ending the year with a very well deserved bottle of champagne.

I can honestly say it’s been the best yet, full of challenges, the usual ups and downs but most of all it’s a been a massive success and I’m so excited for the year ahead. 🎉

Highlights of 2023

🥂We opened an office in London

🍾 Popped over 4000 bottles of wine and champagne

🥂 Hosted 50+ events around the UK

🍾 Entertained in some of Londons most iconic buildings, St Paul’s Cathedral, The Leadenhall and 22 Bishopsgate 🏙️

🍷 Created and sourced the wine list for a dinner party with the Prime Minister.

🤕 Maybe caused a few headaches along the way, but I’m sure they were worth every sip 😋

🎉 2023 you were certainly one to remember, let’s make 2024 full of even more unforgettable experience.

🍷 The highest altitude wine tasting event in London 🏙️

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting an incredible wine tasting event for our client Palo Alto Networks who alongside Amazon Web Services (AWS) & HashiCorp delivered an insightful Technology Roundtable at their new office HQ.

We have hosted events at 22 Bishopsgate previously however this was our first time on the 55th floor - and it didn’t disappoint! We are told that it’s the largest office building ever built in Britain and at 278 metres high it is the highest office space in Europe! It got us thinking… Could we have hosted the highest altitude wine tasting event in London last Thursday?! 🍷

After the presentations finished guests enjoyed wonderful evening of networking alongside some outstanding wines paired with delicious cheese courtesy of La Fromagerie.

It was an honour to host this event and we look forward to future collaborations with the amazing team! Rachel Wilson Henry Davies Archie Bradshaw 🍾

A mellow, buttery, ‘washed-rind’ cheese from the Gloucester countryside. It's creamy texture and earthy notes create a luxurious melt-in-the-mouth experience and pairs perfectly with an English sparkling wine such as with Bolney Blanc de Blancs, the Chardonnay grapes create lively bubbles and zesty citrus tones, which cut through the creaminess of the soft cheese . Together, they create the perfect fusion of textures and flavours,

I'm often asked, How do you select the best wine on those supermarket shelves? Do you go for the fancy label, the intriguing story, or perhaps the price tag that promises quality? In our quest to find the ideal wine, it's easy to get captivated by a label's allure. But here's the thing: sometimes, all that glitters isn't gold.

For many winemakers, the challenge lies in enticing first-time buyers. Price and packaging become immediate hooks. Modern wine labels have evolved; they're now filled with humour, contemporary appeal, and sheer elegance. However, in this visual spectacle, it's crucial to pause and consider: was it the wine's description or the label's charm that truly drew you in?

Here are some tips from Club Vino:

🔍 Read the Back: Always delve into the details on the back of the label. The back label often reveals a wine's story: the winery's history, winemaking techniques, and flavour notes. Understanding this narrative provides more context and enhances your appreciation of the wine's journey from vine to bottle.

🍇 Know Your Preferences: Note down the regions and grape varieties you enjoy. Take notes on what regions (like Bordeaux or Napa Valley) and grape varieties (such as Cabernet Sauvignon) knowing you own taste for wine will guid you to wines tailored to your palate.

🚫 Beware of Marketing: Don't fall for flashy marketing tactics. While flashy labels might catch your eye, don't let vibrant designs sway your choice. Some exceptional wines come in modest packages. Focus on the content inside the bottle, not just the exterior allure.

🍷 Decipher Sweetness: Learn the secret symbols for sweetness levels. The sweetness symbols on labels (ranging from dry to sweet) indicate the wine's residual sugar. 🔝 Explore Beyond Eye Level: The best finds might be on lower or higher shelves. Supermarket shelves are strategically organised, but hidden gems often reside on the lower or higher shelves. Don't hesitate to crouch down or reach up; you might discover unique wines that others overlook.

💰 Discounts Aren't Everything: Quality often trumps discounts. While discounts are enticing, they don't always guarantee quality. Some discounted wines might lack the depth and complexity you desire. Focus on finding wines that align with your taste rather than solely chasing bargains.

What a day 🍷 🏎️

We were invited by the Ferrari team at Stratstone who collaborated with Manchester artist Dean Dougla to showcase his latest collection of thought-provoking inspirational art.

A room filled with Ferraris, fine wines, gourmet canapés (cooked onsite by the outstanding Private Chef Alex Beard), and art that sparks the imagination – it was truly a dreamy setting. 🌟

Many thanks to the Strathstone Ferrari team and, of course, Dean Douglass for extending the invitation. It was a day filled with memories that will last a long time.
