Our Story
The New Inn Karma Dechen Choling is situated in the tiny Herefordshire village of Brilley on the Welsh borders. This 18th century stone house, with its extensive grounds and stream running through it, enjoys stunning views of the Black Mountains, the beautiful Wye valley and the Brecon Beacons. A former rural inn, the main house is adjoined by a self-contained suite and a meditation hall.

This 18th century stone house, with its extensive grounds and stream running through it, enjoys stunning views of the Black Mountains, the beautiful Wye valley and the Brecon Beacons. A former rural inn, the main house is adjoined by a self-contained suite and a meditation hall. This Valley is of unspoilt natural beauty, a paradise for walkers, riders, cyclists and canoeists.
There are churches and chapels dotted around the black mountains. One such is Cwmyoy Church, described as Britain's most crooked church. It is located seven miles north of Abergavenny and four miles south of Llanthony in the Vale of Ewyas. Centuries of subsidence caused the tower and chancel to move in opposite directions, twisting the entire structure. Some claim that the church tower leans more than the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
This place, now has grown to include a Wagon that looks over the Valley, The Rising Sun is the loggers cabin with its outdoor bath tub to relax and soak in with aroma oils...., The Angels is the tabernacle with its tower and windows allowing the play of light...., The Mother Earth is the earthy round house again with its splendid views whilst relaxing in the whiskey barrel on the decking...., then is the sweet little 60’s caravan, also with views and on its decking a bathtub to relax in.... and the 70’s caravan just by the road with its majestic views..... these grounds has also for some time now been offering retreat facility for those with their spiritual tradition, writers and painters alike will find the peace and quiet ideal for their contemplative work.
