We are beyond delighted that Outcomes First Group has once again been officially certified as a ‘Great Place To Work!’ This year’s survey has also given us our strongest ever results and is a true reflection of our Promise – “We are kind to ourselves and each other, we work together, and we make things happen”. In fact, 87% of those working here feel that they are cared about. This year we introduced a four-day working week trial and 75% of employees say they are encouraged to balance their work and life. We will continue to roll this trial out to more schools and services over the next year. This is the fourth year in a row we have officially been named a ‘Great Place To Work,’ and we could not be more proud.

Recently, it was Neurodiversity Celebration Week, and we want to show you examples of how we’ve been supporting this celebration through our Autism Strategy, which is based on the key principles of Ask, Accept and Develop. Today we hear from a colleague with dyslexia on how it affects them at work and what we can do to help.
Our Neurodiversity Cafe is held on the second Monday of every month - everyone is welcome. If you'd like to join us, please email [email protected] for an invitation.

The challenges a young autistic person faces during every school day are many and varied. The environment can feel overwhelming and can impact on their ability to focus, meaning accessing the curriculum can prove difficult. Our innovative new Autism Strategy – Ask, Accept, Develop – focuses on providing an environment conducive to the needs and strengths of the autistic young person. Our head of autism and neurodiversity practice, Dr Freya Spicer-White, shares her thoughts here: https://www.optionsautism.co.uk/blog/2022/07/18/ask-accept-develop-a-progressive-approach-to-education-for-autistic-children-and-young-people/

When our wonderful young people see autistic role models achieving their dreams, it inspires them to reach for the stars. Jacqueline Lawlor, a science teacher at The Tower School, recently contacted naturalist and TV personality Chris Packham to ask if he would send a message to the children. Everyone at the school was very moved that Chris took the time to record a special video. He, like us, believes autism can empower people and be an enabler for what you want to do in life, rather than something that holds you back. Many thanks, Chris!
