Please don't ask me about, "skip the line tickets," just accept that I'll know the right time to visit or that I will have a stack of information to pass on while we wait in line to see the Crown Jewels. Oh, and "Who's a pretty boy?" is not a phrase that should pass your lips when coming close up and personal with a Raven.

A first for me today. I was aware of the Yeoman Warder tours but being shown the bloody tower by one of the ravens was new,(and no way they could be persuaded to leave). The legendary guardians of the Tower of London 🏰🖤, these majestic ravens are more than just birds—they’re protectors of the kingdom’s fate! Legend has it, if they ever leave, both the Tower and the monarchy will fall.

Witness these magnificent creatures up close and discover the history and myth that surrounds them! 🐦✨

Who's been here?

Welcome to Portsmouth, the city built on its own island. Portsmouth is built on Portsea Island, it's the only city on an island of its own in the British Isles. It's also the home of the Royal Navy since the 12th Century. Portsmouth was built by and for the Royal Navy and like a giant mother ship, for centuries has launched warships to defend our shores and fight our wars.

Out in Portsmouth Harbour, spreading out into the Solent between the Isle of Wight are a series of sea forts built as part of the Napoleonic defences, above Portsmouth, around Portsmouth and for miles inland from Portsmouth are fortifications and castles dating back from Norman times to WW2 built to defend Britain's most strategic naval base, indeed many of these installations are still in use with the Ministry of Defence and associated industry, others have only been vacated only in recent years.

For those interested in military and naval history Portsmouth is a treasure trove.
