Irvinestown Library currently has an exhibition called 'Castle Archdale and Irvinestown in World War II'. 🖼️

It is made up of material from local history author Breege McCusker and coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Two of their squadrons, RCAF 422 and 423, played a pivotal role in the Battle of the Atlantic during World War II and have strong links to Castle Archdale and the local Irvinestown area.

🎉We are so excited for Harvest Festival of Colour this weekend at Florence Court!

We expect it to be busy, so here are some tips to help you plan your visit.

💷 Cash – we advise bringing cash for the food and craft stalls.

🛍️ Bring a bag – to carry all the goodies you might buy from the food and craft vendors.

👟 Wear comfy shoes – the food, craft, and entertainment is spread out across the grounds of the estate so prepare to get your steps in!

☔️ Bring a raincoat – because it’s Fermanagh…

🐾 Dogs – are welcome but must be kept on leads at all times. (*They are not allowed in the mansion).

*Please note free passes will not be accepted over the weekend*

Visit our website for everything you need to know about Harvest Festival of Colour, including a list of food and craft vendors, plus timings for the weekend’s entertainment: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/northern-ireland/florence-court/harvest-festival

On the clock tower of the Town Hall, two statues stand as symbols of Enniskillen's unique military history: one of a Royal Inniskilling Fusilier and the other of a 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoon.

The statue of the Dragoon was donated by Francis William Bracken in 1902. Born in Fermanagh, Bracken had served with the regiment before retiring on an Army pension and emigrating to South Africa.

In 1904, the 7-foot-6-inch statue of the Dragoon was installed in a niche on the front of the tower, alongside the statue of the Royal Inniskilling Fusilier in a neighbouring niche.

In 2015, the Dragoon lost his arm and sword, which fell onto the street below. They have since been restored.

Next time you're strolling the High Street, don't forget to look up!
