🎶Die Fledermaus at the Opera in Rome🎶

Die Fledermaus is a sparkling and playful ballet by Johann Strauss, often described as one of the most delightful works in the operatic repertoire. Staged at the renowned Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, this performance brings the mischievous world of Viennese high society to life with its catchy waltzes, comic misunderstandings, and a whirlwind of disguises and revelry.

Giacomo Puccini’s iconic opera Tosca was brought to life in a bold and visionary production at the Petruzzelli Theatre in Bari, directed by Hugo de Ana. This staging skillfully balances tradition with modern interpretation, offering a fresh take on the classic while preserving its timeless emotional depth. Hugo de Ana’s Tosca at the Petruzzelli is not just a return to the opera's beauty, but a testament to the enduring power of the art form. It proves that theatre, even when reimagined, can still move and resonate with modern audiences. A performance that will remain etched in the memory of those fortunate enough to experience it.

Both glühwein and mulled wine are spiced, warm drinks perfect for cozy winter nights, but their roots are a bit different. Glühwein is the German version, typically made with red wine, heated with spices like cinnamon, cloves, and citrus, often enjoyed at Christmas markets. Mulled wine, the British version, shares a similar recipe but can also include brandy and a mix of spices like nutmeg and ginger. While both are delightful seasonal treats, glühwein is more focused on simplicity and tradition, while mulled wine offers a broader spectrum of flavor variations. Either way, these warm, spiced beverages bring comfort and holiday cheer!

Recently I had the pleasure of attending Donizetti’s Don Pasquale directed by Doucet and Barbe in Glasgow, and it was absolutely delightful! The mix of humor and romance was brilliantly portrayed, and the staging was stunning.
I left the theater with a smile, reminded of the timeless charm of opera.
