April weather in the UK is unpredictable at best. One minute we could see sunshine poking through the clouds and the next we’re hit with snow showers. Leave the uncertainty behind with a trip to the Maldives where April temperatures average between 27-31 degrees meaning you can spend your days soaking up the sun out on the soft white sand, and your evenings sat out on the deck of your private overwater villa under the blanket of stars in the pitch-black night sky.

We’ve got great news! Travel Counsellors has been rated ‘Green’ for Covid flexibility on the new Which? Holiday Checker!

After taking part in several surveys with the leading UK consumer champion Which? this year, today the company launched a consumer-focussed online tool that rates companies green, amber or red based on their refund and amendment policies in relation to Covid-19 travel disruption. It is designed to makes it easy for people to check which travel companies have provided the best service to their customers, offering flexible booking options and refunds, and which ones could leave them out of pocket if circumstances change.

Gozo, the relaxed sister island of Malta, sits to the north west of the island in the Mediterranean Sea. Its unhurried pace of life and rustic appeal is just what many of us are in need of as we seek harmony after months of confinement. With a name that means ‘joy’ in Castilian, you can look forward to experiencing bliss on the islet.

Much like its sister island of Malta, Gozo’s food reflect the island’s history with marauders and conquerors from North Africa, Turkey, Italy and across the Mediterranean.

All roads in Gozo lead to its capital, Victoria (known as Rabat to the locals), which sits at the island’s heart both literally and figuratively. Its citadel, which can be seen from across the island, rising above the sleepy countryside that surrounds it; was built in the medieval era and serves as a reminder of the island’s tumultuous history. Nowadays, the city plays host to a lively open-air market in It-Tokk whilst maintaining its relaxed and sociable character that visitors adore.

During your time in Victoria, make an early start at least once to grab a coffee with the locals shortly after 6am and enjoy a pastizzi for breakfast; these local pastries filled with peas or cheese are the perfect accompaniment to an espresso.
