Over the past few months we’ve been beavering away, not only on our project work on the ground supporting our rivers, but also on ensuring that our organisation is a true reflection of the work that we do.

We are now very excited and proud to share with you our new name, branding and website!

The inspiration around the name change and the new branding was focused on sparking a feeling of connection between humans and nature. We wanted to create a brand which will inspire people to look more closely at the riverscapes around them, encouraging them to take action to help these special habitats thrive.

Our new tagline - “Action for our Riverscapes” - encompasses this feeling.

It was important to us that our organisation name reflects all of the work we do, across multiple rivers - we are of course aware that the headwaters of the Rother are in Hampshire. However we wanted to include the 10 rivers in our patch which are not part of either the Rother or Arun catchments, and the majority of our geographical area is based in Western Sussex.

So please, take a look around our new website, feast your eyes upon photos of wildlife found on our rivers, and if you feel inspired please sign up for volunteering or have a look at our donation page to see how you can help support our precious riverscapes.

A big thank you to the chaps who helped start to w**d Cart Lake yesterday. It's immense task but with only four of us we did manage to clear at least 4 swims to make them fishable. Big shout out to Mick and Gary plus Les Pears for their time. We have also added some blue dye to help suppress the w**d growth. But we really need more help if we are to open the whole lake. Please give the bailiff Ray Andrews a call if you can help. Even a couple of hours will make difference. There's a w**d rake with your name on it!

Cart Lake. Please note that Cart Lake will be closed to members on Wednesday 15th for a w**d clearing operation. Stemps will remain open. Work should should be finished that day. Thank you.

The Angling Trust is seeking applications for a share of £150,000 for projects involved in fish protection and predation management.

Grants of up to £6,000 are available from the Angling Improvement Fund which is funded from income generated through the sale of the Environment Agency’s coarse and non-migratory trout fishing licences and aims to provide a direct benefit to anglers. It was established in 2015 and since then has reinvested over £2.7m of fishing licence money into projects that directly benefit fisheries in England.

This current round is open to angling clubs, commercial angling venues, syndicate fisheries, community organisations and local authorities who provide angling facilities, and applicants should attempt to match the award with a similar amount of funding from their own sources. This may include cash, volunteer time, donations, or a combination of all three.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on 17 May and projects must be based in England. More information: https://anglingtrust.net/funding/aif/

If you can help keep the Fishery in good nick then meet in the main car park at 9.00a.m. Bring pruners, saw etc many thanks.

Holmbush landslip.
Members are requested not to fish the end of Holmbush Lake due to today's collapse of the bank behind pegs 20 to 15. This area has been marked with hazard tape and must not be crossed. Area is unstable due to erosion from the excessive rain during this winter. Lots of trees uprooted and walkway destroyed.

All other swims are currently available. .

Holmbush.
Panic over! Lock now sorted. Turns out that it was the correct lock that a member didn't understand and thought it was key operated. Please dear members please read your handbook for all this basic advice so your fishing time is problem free.

Holmbush
Unfortunately someone has replaced our official gate lock with their own and taken the key home! No idea why but we are trying to get a new coded lock to replace provided we can remove the other lock. We are attempting to do this by lunchtime tommorrow but in the interim I would not travel to the lake until we give the all clear. If you are the ownef of the new lock please contact Andy our bailiff urgently.
