Do you know how critical reviews are to small businesses like Evolve?

They are a vital part of building trust with Google, helping with SEO (rankings) and reassuring prospective new couples that we are not crazy, narcissistic, or egocentric.

I also know that despite taking only a few minutes to write, they are a pain in the backside, and everyone and their dog wants a review (if anyone’s dog does want a review, I am happy to write one, in exchange for some cuddle time (with the dog))

Everything you buy and every service you use, from a takeaway burger to a brand-new car, all want a review. We are all guilty of being very keen to write a review of lousy service/product but not for good service/products.

So, (if you have gotten this far), here is my question and my incentive to you.

Evolve needs just 32 reviews to hit the magic 200

If you haven’t already left Evolve a review, please use the link in the bio (and stories) to do so. It’s not just the couples who can leave reviews but also any parents, bridesmaids, best men, brothers, sisters, or dogs that were at any wedding that we photographed.

As soon as we hit 200 (being only 32 away and having photographed around 600 weddings in the last ten years, it shouldn’t be too tricky!) I will put all of the names into a hat and pick, at random, one person who has left a review. The winner will receive a £100 print credit to have some of their photographs printed. To make sure it is fair, I will also enter the reviews of the couples who have already kindly left me in the sorting hat.

Here is a question for you. How many years ago do you think I took this photo? I'll tell you, 22 years ago. I know! Firstly, this proves that timeless photography with no weird filters, fads and fashions (the latest being horrid direct flash and blurred images being passed off as "editorial") stand the test of time. The photos I take this year will still look great on your walls in 2047. And secondly, that my storage and archival processes are second to none, I'm still able to access 21+ years of photos. Btw this was also taken on medium format 6x6 film and scanned.

This year marks ten years since Tristan started working alongside me at Evolve, and eight years in January just gone for Kayleigh. I saw this on Threads this morning. I've posted and blogged about it before. I started my career shooting medium format film and processing and printing colour (and b&w) myself. Because of this I learned a lot about colour and colour correction. I've always tried to emulate this in my digital editing, since I changed to fully digital in 2003. I've never understood why couples spend a considerable amount of effort choosing colours for their wedding, in their flowers, dresses, suits, ties and decor and then are happy when they receive photos that don't reflect their choices. Often desaturated, sometimes warm, sometimes light, sometimes dark. That green grass of your country wedging venue, brown!? Your pink roses, burgundy!? 🤷🏼‍♂️ it's all fads and fashions, nothing I've ever subscribed to, or ever will, hopefully the next trend WILL be natural edits and all the florist will be happy 😊 🌹

February 15th is the 11th anniversary of my first time working at The Green. I remember it well. Becca and Paul’s Winter wedding, these two were already ahead of the curve with an eco-friendly “carbon neutral” wedding day, not something many couples were thinking of back in 2014 (and thankfully, I had sold my TVR Cerbera by then, as that would have tipped the neutrality a bit!). I have loved working at Moira & Mikes beautiful Cornish wedding venue for so many weddings since that day. A week after their wedding day, I received a kind email from Morwenna asking if they could add me as a recommended supplier, as they really liked how I worked on the day. Fast-forward to the bizarre 2020, with so many Elopement weddings and on to a hectic 2022/23 season, over Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, from baking hot days to cold, wet, windy ones, we have been there for all of them! I have my first three weddings of 2025 back at The Green starting a week on Tuesday. It’s like seeing good friends, the lovely staff and the wedding team; Mike and I like to chat about cars, and often, I get to work with some of my favourite registrars in the county. Best of all though is the venue itself, I love the tranquillity of the area, the natural and stunning backdrops and the wildlife. Here’s to another 11 years!

My final wedding of 2024! Lou and Sam were married on the 22nd and had over 1000 edited photos to enjoy by Christmas Eve. They also left me this lovely review 😍. "Mark was recommended to us by our venue Rockbeare Manor and we were so pleased he was available on our wedding date.

From the beginning Mark was very warm and made us feel at complete ease. He spent some time with us before the wedding to get a feel for what we wanted out of our day.

As for the day it self, Mark just fitted in perfectly, he knew the venue so well that he just got on with it, never needing to take me or my husband away to ask questions etc - he just knew what he was doing. He is non-intrusive and warm, which was a pleasure for us and took away nerves/stress about the photos.

Mark works a long side Tristan Adams Videography often, and I would definitely recommend booking them together, as they bounce of each other and work together in such tandem. They were a great team.

As for the final photos, first of all, the turnaround time was absolutely unbelievable and so quick which we will be forever thankful for - it was done so fast without compromising on quality, as the photos are breath taking and everything I hoped for and more. Every important moment was caught and I want to print them all....!
