Queen Elizabeth II was a truly inspirational part of our lives for so many years, and we will miss her hugely.

The personal anecdotes that we have read and heard about only strengthen the love that we have for a woman that most of us were never lucky enough to meet.

Her wit and humour, her wisdom and her ability to get to the heart of a situation with little fuss are good lessons to hold on to.

Isn't it wonderful that we showed her how much we loved and appreciated her with the Platinum Jubilee celebrations? We didn't wait until this horribly sad time.

Thank you so much, ma'am.

Happy International Dog Day from Hector, the Humphreys of Henley CEO - Chief Entertainment Officer

Hector is a much-loved member of the team because he not only entertains us every day (his core role) he loves his time walking in the countryside, admiring the view from boats on the river and staying in the best hotels to check the quality of the sausages.

And it is all of this learning that we share with our clients when we plan the best countryside experiences for them.

He's looking forward to his special dinner later, all part of his staff motivation plan.

Buckingham Palace announces that the royal tradition of swan upping will recommence on 22 July 2021.

Swan Upping was a primarily ceremonial event from the 12th century, but its purpose has now changed to an important element of wildlife conservation.
This ceremonial element is beautifully retained - a flotilla of traditional Thames rowing skiffs, manned by Swan Uppers in scarlet rowing shirts and headed by The Queen’s Swan Marker, wearing a hat with a white swan’s feather, row their way steadily up the Thames.

‘All up!’ they cry as a family of swans and cygnets is spotted, and the Swan Uppers carefully position their boats around the swans, lift them from the water and check their health.

Just loving our weekend in , I’d forgotten how beautiful it is! And we had the best monkfish I’ve ever tasted at ...it was sublime 😍. A good post walk drink was needed and was the perfect venue. Hector loved the beach...and all of the attention 🤩🍷.

When British luxury hotels welcome guests once again in 3 weeks, what will have changed?
Bedrooms and suites, restaurants and bars and event spaces have been re-modelled and revitalised, a great use of lockdown.

What about the guests? What changes will we see?
We’ve been hearing a lot about their need for balance:
- The balance between their need for safety and some much-needed indulgence
- The balance between offering a haven of reflection and feeding their curiosity

The guests may be staying in 5-star luxury, but for some it’s still their second choice, they would prefer to have jumped on a plane – so how do we make them feel as re-energised and excited as we are about the re-opening of the UK?

It's 14 April 2021 and we are in stage 2 of the roadmap and it seems likely that the hotels will re-open on 17 May as planned.
It's going to be a great day for British staycationers and our hospitality industry and we can't wait to welcome our guests from overseas.
