With a pirate ship moored outside Lamlash, starfishes hiding under Holy Isle jetty and a friendly volunteer at the Bhuddist Centre for World Health and Peace, yesterday's Kayak Arran tour was fun.

Happy to have seen seals between Brodick Castle's Wine Port and Smuggler's Cove, our group stretch their legs and model our lightweight Epic wing and euro paddles. First tour of 2024 with sunshine, seals and smiles. Blackwaterfoot to Drumadoon Point with views of Kings Caves. Also, the first outing of the Epic Kayaks UK Active Touring paddle from Sea Kayak Oban which felt great!

Blackwaterfoot to Kings Caves taking in Blackwater Bakehouse's Grayhound supplies ship, barrel jellyfish, blackwaterfoot's harbour, Arran Geopark's fossilised chirotherium footprint and the beautiful Machrie Water, only accessible by sea at high water. A varied, relaxed full day paddle.

Corrie to Lochranza, wind assisted 95% of the way. A damp but delightful tour of Arran Geopark's northern attractions: Fallen Rocks, Millstone Point, Laggan Cottage, St. Ossian's cave, fossilized giant millipede tracks, Fairy Dell cottage and Hutton's Unconformity. Finally, Lochranza Castle as viewed from the head of the loch.

Lochranza in the sunshine. A great day visiting Fairy Dell cottage, Huttons Unconformity and a fish filled sea feasted on by gulls. A village buzzing thanks to the Arran Whisky festival and newly reopened Lochranza Country Inn Ltd.

Arran's Kingscross point Viking fort and Holy Isle. The stable Venture Canoes & Kayaks Isla LV and Easky 13 boats offered stability and confidence to inexperienced paddlers. And there was still time to visit St. Molaise's cave, Judgement Rock and Healing Spring.

A tour of the Rosa Burn, and Brodick Bay with views of Goat Fell, Arran Botanical Drinks and, close to Brodick Castle, Garden & Country Park NTS, the Wine Port. All on our new Venture Canoes & Kayaks Islay Sit-on-top kayak, ideal for the mobility impared. Thanks to Sea Kayak Oban for supplying the kit.
