STONEHALL HOUSE, STONEHOUSE, on the plot that is more or less now the site of Stonehall flats. Early maps, show this as a fortified manor and I cannot help but wonder if the crenellations on the right of the building are testament to its former history.

This winter, anyone who is struggling with the cost of living who needs a warm, winter coat is welcome to pick one up at the following libraries. 🥼

These coats have been donated to libraries from members of the public and can help provide a lifeline to those may not have access to warm clothing during the winter months.

Just when you think you have tasted most of the world’s loveliest drinks - along comes another ! Beckoning me to taste from their elegant shaped bottle was a range of Zero alcohol cordials under the name Nonsuch Shrubs. I am aware of one or two of you have recently enquired how to obtain Shrub - previously made and distributed by JRPhillips of Bristol. Alas they no longer exist and along with it went Shrub. But now the path is clear to experience a range of four cordials under the name Shrub. How about Bittersweet Apple and Cardamom Shrub, Blood Orange and Lemon Shrub, Caramelised Pineapple and Ginger and Wild Hedgerow and Rose? Tasting them neat gave me the insight into just how authentic they are. It’s hard to have a favourite as each one (diluted with either Soda, Tonic Water or American Ginger) hit the spot. These cordials are perfect for any aspiring cocktail slinger wishing to create comething unique for their bar. Or simply mix with Rum for a classic Westcountry tipple .
