Hemyock Twinning Association
The name of our French Twinning Association is “Le Jumelage des Grees” which is the name given to an area of marshes and lakes, based around the river Loire. The association consists of four different villages: St. Herblon, Anetz, La Roche – Blanche & Pouille les Coteaux. The villages are found just north of Ancenis, with Nantes to the west and Angers to the east. We
have members from Hemyock, Clayhidon and surrounding areas. We are an active association, organising several social events throughout the year to raise funds to enable us to host our French friends. We alternate our visits, usually in May, travelling on an overnight ferry and taking a leisurely trip to St Herblon, spend 3 nights with our hosts where we are taken on excursions, have evening entertainment meeting as a group and spend some time with the host family. Hosting a family on the return visit is ideal but not everyone has room so we can always find beds for your guests and leave the entertaining to you. We organise day trips and evening entertainment, with some free time for you to spend with your guests, they will be here for 3 nights. WHAT DOES IT COST ME? Annual membership to the association £5-00 individual / £10-00 for a family. (2019 cost)
WHAT DO I GET OUT OF IT? New friendships, knowledge of other cultures, economical visits to France, possible lasting friendships, giving you a holiday base in one of the beautiful areas of France. BUT I CAN’T SPEAK FRENCH! Don’t worry, as long as you are prepared to try, mime, gesticulate or even learn a few French words like; “Yes, No; Thank you; Good Morning”, and may be a few other words, you’ll have a wonderful time. WHAT TYPE OF PERSON IS INVOLVED IN TWINNING? We welcome families, couples and individuals, young and old! WHAT IF I DIDN’T GET ON WITH MY VISITOR? We work with our French counterparts to match families as best we can, but if it doesn’t work for you we can usually find an another enthusiast French family. YES I’M INTERESTED, WHAT DO I DO NOW?
