Company Background
WRP Tours was founded in 1988 by John Joyner and his wife Maggie following John’s early retirement. They had both completed the London Marathon, and spurred on by the experience they began to organise a number of races including the Wyvern 10 road race and the Island Race 2000 as well as the first Ekiden Relay in Britain. Having organised tours to the London Marathon they also
included tours to marathons in Europe and North America. In 2014, Roland Gibbard joined the Partnership with the aim of strengthening the team and re-establishing some additional tours. Roland is an experienced marathoner (2h-20m) and brings a wealth of knowledge to the team. Staffing of the London tour
Practical experience and knowledge are the overriding requirements of WRP staff. Each of the hotels has a core of staff members that not only know their particular hotel but have marathon experience as well. They are on hand to help and give advice and guidance over the weekend. Together they have completed over 200 marathons, with a number of them being experienced race directors in their own right. Hotels
WRP have been using the 4* Novotel chain for over 20 years and in 2015 will be using four of their hotels in central London. They offer an excellent standard of comfort, service and facilities for both runners and spectators. Guests can stay from 1 to 7 days and every year runners from overseas join us for the tour. Charities
Over 50 charities including Children with Cancer, British Heart Foundation and SENSE recommend their runners to use WRP Tours packages which include everything the runner and their spectators may need, including escorted tours of the start, race registration, and the finish. Coaches are provided for all to the start plus a spectator service, and finally post-race showers, massages and food.
