Eda started life as a Danish fishing vessel and in the 1990s was discovered by her previous owners, who took her to Scotland, rebuilt and fitted her out for her current use as a charter vessel. A gaff cutter rig was chosen, with a large yet versatile sail area, rather than a ketch rig that would have been favoured for fishing. After a major fire ashore in 1993, she was extensively rebuilt by the owners, which involved a team of volunteers, lots of hard work and determination, and 3 years later Eda was launched. Beautifully kept and maintained, the level of craftsmanship and detail is first class.

Some reviews are too cute not to share 🥰 🎀
Notes and photo from Vale following her Passage voyage from Scotland to Cornwall….
“If you’re wondering if this is the right trip for you, wonder no more: it is. It doesn’t matter if you’ve sailed the seven seas or if you’ve never put foot on any boat: this is the right trip for everyone. It is amazing how fast you’ll feel at home on board of Eda Frandsen: she is a boat that hugs you, and her crew hugs you with her. I’ve never met such a passionate crew, with such passion, experience and joy in hosting guest and sailing, sharing good and abundant meals, old and new stories and, in general, their way of life. Eda Frandsen Sailing is much more than just a holiday on some wooden old ship with some nice and experienced crew: it is more a -even if short- journey in a way of life. So, if you’re unsure to book a trip: just book it! You won’t regret it. Any issue you may think you’ll may have about personal space, food, boring hours, seasickness, other guests, etc. needs to be put aside, because I’ll discover yourself at ease with everything the very moment you’ll put your foot on board, thank to the crew. Thank you Eda Frandsen for a journey I’ll never forget!”
Thank you Vale! 🙏

We got married!
Last weekend, Mungo and I got married here in Cornwall surrounded by friends and family. The sun shone brilliantly down on us and we could not be feeling happier or more grateful! ♥️
A huge thank you to everyone that leant an ear to us discussing the preparations this summer and to the many of you who have sent well wishes and words of wisdom in the past few weeks.
In true Eda Frandsen style it was a huge communal effort to bring everything together at the end of our season, and we are feeling very blessed to have such wonderful people in our world.
Thank you to all of you that have joined us onboard Eda over the past few years, we wouldn’t be here without you! ♥️

We’re breaking our internet silence to say that the end of our season went off with quite a bang 💥 !
We had a little party and Mungo was allowed to fire the biggest canon of his life! 😅

It’s definitely reached the point in our sailing season when remembering to share photos and videos has slipped all the way to the bottom of the to do list!
Which I have to remind myself is okay, we are in the business of taking people sailing, and lately, focusing on being present onboard and enjoying every last minute of the season has felt like the most important thing…..Sometimes it feels as though the days are merging into one another, but then you look back at your camera and see that really isn’t the case.
This year on Eda we have really felt people’s need to escape the hustle and bustle of land life. We have joked that we offer Sleeping & Sailing holidays, because the sleep you get after a full day on the water, just hits different.
So here’s to a selection of Golden moments from the last month or so… We’ve been soaking up every last minute of it….

A truly special day sailing on the West side of Rúm.
Rumours of the local Orcas in the area kept all eyes on the horizon as we swooshed along the coast under full sail…. ⛵️

A high contender for one of my favourite shots of the summer so far, by one of our lovely guests.

We had an absolutely stunning sail from Canna to Muck last week, via the West side of Rùm in glorious sunshine! It was also the first time that we decided to launch the drone whilst sailing and serving lunch all at once, what could possibly go wrong?!

The Eda Frandsen bubble 🫧 feels very real at the moment.
Spending more time at sea than on land, sleeping with the hatches open and swimming in the sea. It’s feels good to have a place where people can come to really unwind. Someone joked the other day that we should advertise as a restorative sleep retreat and it has to be said, the sleeping after long days of sailing lately have been 10/10……💤!
