🌿🌿🌿Beinn An Lochain 🌿🌿🌿

This walk is organised by Ross, MacDonald Walks on Saturday, 17 February. It’s not quite a Munro but pretty close ( 2 metres short). It could be boggy in places so please wear suitable footwear as well as waterproofs, hat and gloves etc. Steep in places with spectacular views.

8 years ago today at 3.18pm our lives were devastated as our shining light went out in person forever.❤️💔
But that shining light shines brightly through my beautiful boys amazing legacy Team Jak💙
There are no words to describe what living each moment of every day feel like without one of your precious children.
Jak I love and miss you more each second of every day.
I am so so proud of you and everything you’ve achieved in life as you, and in death through your amazing insight and legacy.

“Be Happy” was Jaks motto he left with us and we can see his huge beaming smile in many photos from when he was both well and ill.

MacDonald Walks are planning their next West Hilghland Way adventure!
🥾🌿🌺🌿🌺🥾🌿🌺🥾🌿🌺🥾🌿🌺

Walking from Bridge of Orchy to Fort William over 3 days! From 16th to 19th June we will enjoy wonderful views, great accommodation and fab blethers! Here’s a more detailed itinerary

Day 1 - 9.30am Meet at Bridge of Orchy Hotel
Walk to Kingshouse (12 miles)
Overnight stay at Kingshouse Bunkhouse (shared facilities) but will book female sharing room only and male sharing room only. Breakfast included.

Day 2 - 9.30am Walk to Kinlochleven 9 miles.
Overnight stay Kinlochleven (some rooms have been booked at Tailrace Inn and will look at other local accommodation, however all will include en-suite facilities.

Day 3 - 9.30am Walk to Fort William 15 miles.
Overnight stay at local hotel in Fort William. Booking will include en-suite facilities and breakfast.

Day 4 Private Shuttle transport will return us to Bridge of Orchy late afternoon allowing for a chilled morning and a chance to have a look around Fort William. Time to be confirmed for shuttle.

What’s included in cost?

🥾All accommodation with breaksfast.
🥾With the exception of Kingshouse all accommodation will include en-suite facilities.
🥾Luggage transported daily - accom to accom.
🥾Walking led by Ross (Mountain Leader certified).
🥾Private Shuttle back to Bridge of Orchy.

Approx cost is currently £320.

Let me know by 28 February if you want to book and cost will be confirmed prior to booking as this will depend on how many book etc. Due to request from accommodation suppliers to pay on booking, we would need the full amount to be paid and will confirm final cost with you prior to booking if this increases.

Following paid booking, if you cancel we will endeavour to get your place filled and will return your payment. However, there is no guarantee of this but we will try our best! 🙌🙌🙌

🎄 Come and join us for our very first Christmas Fayre! 🎄

We'll be joined by an amazing selection of local creatives, hosting a wide range of wonderful gifts, just in time for your Christmas shopping! Featuring a very special stall with items made by our disabled service users. Please make sure to bring cash and carrier bags for all your goodies!

We'll also be offering out some lovely home baking created by the CoWL team, so why not pop down for a cuppa and a cake at the very least!

The Fayre is on Saturday the 19th of November from 11am until 2pm. Entry is free!

FitWalks are retuning and we will be moving our FitWalks to the FitWalks page.

Our bigger adventure walks will be posted here on Macdonald Walks page and maybe one day a webpage!

However the last post for fitwalks -
3rd of May has arrived and we will be having our first FitWalk tonight.

4Km route which will take the average person 1 hour or 1 hour 15 if you are in a wheelchair!
FitWalks are walks which we ask you to walk briskly, for all ages and abilities but safe and fun. A great way to up your calorie burn and up your fitness in the great outdoors.

Tonight is our last fitwalk this year.
Nights are starting to draw in and the weather is cooling.
Tonight’s walk will be starting in oat ridge college main car park for 18:15.
My plan is to get to the top of Binny Craig for the Sunset at 19:00 so we should be in the right place for great sunset pictures.
Then Back to the car park for around 19:30. Walking boots or footwear with a hard sole is recommended.
All our fitwalks this year have been collecting for Team Jak Foundation- Jak's Den We should get the figure of what’s been collected soon.
Thanks for all who have come, Ruth and I have enjoyed your company.
We do plan to start our Fitwalks next year again around April time.

Tonight’s fitwalk will be at little later than normal at 6:30 and it’s the linburn circular. It won’t be muddy but it could be dirty as it has been repathed.

Another “Going on Bear Hunt” walk! Thanks everyone who came along. Really nice and chilled walk, even though we covered over 3 miles! Here we are looking towards Binny Craig.

Tonights walk 31 August.
18:10 for a 18:15 sharp we Start at the Dedridge swan pond on the stone bridge next to the Lanthorn. Distance will be 3.5 miles
This walk will take you on a small adventure away from roads.
Together we will walk under a 160 year old viaduct bridge and under the A71!
Into a glen then back into Dedridge and back to the stone bridge!

Ground will be uneven at times and not suitable for wheelchairs. Path was a not muddy but I would recommend full trousers (possible nettle sting) All welcome.

Cost – it’s free but if you want to donate £1 for team Jak Foundation- Jak's Den that’s great.

Next week will be a FitWalk starting at the car park opposite the Riverside Veterainain vets

2nd Tuesday of Month is Linhouse Circular - FitWalk
3rd Tuesday of Month is Almond East (Indiana Jones!) - FitWalk

Our walk starts at the car park opposite the almondside vets practice at 18:15 start and finish around 19:30 for a walk to stretch the legs and get the lungs going.
Great for fitness, and well being with a safe social group.
We will be heading along the almond (easterly direction or Indiana Jones route!) off the beaten track.

Come and join us as we complete the middle part of the West Highland Way! Here are the details:
We’ll be met at Milngavie at 9.30am on Saturday 2 October and be driven to Rowardennan to begin our walk.
Day 1 - walk to Inverarnan (14 miles) and stay at The Drovers Inn
Day 2 - walk to Tyndrum (12 miles) and stay at The Tyndrum Inn
Day 3 - Tyndrum to Inveroran (9 miles)

On arrival at Inveroran we’ll have celebratory drinks and be driven back to the train station in Milngavie.
All rooms en-suite and breakfast included. All taxi transfers including bag transfers to each stop included in price. Total cost £250 per head.

Fab walk up Binnie Craig tonight. Could hear the thunder in the distance and could see the rain over the hills but we stayed dry the whole time! Get in touch if you want to know more about our free weekly walks in West Lothian! 🌿🌿🌿

4th Tuesday of the month is Binny Craig.
18:15 to 19:45/20:00 (approx) 4km walk but will have a steep ascent.
Good walking shoes (hard base) or boots is best as the grass might be slippy on the slope. Starting point is at Oatridge College Car park
Go to " Main car park" I will be there in a blue van,
We will travel as a group and some surfaces will be uneven.
In my Mountain Leading capacity I will show you how you use a walking pole or how you travel easier up a hill, things you should do and things you shouldn't do.
All good stuff if you want to grow in your walking adventures.
There will be opportunity for some amazing views and on a clear day you will see North Berwick to Ben Lomond and Tinto Hill !
We will collect £1 and this will go towards Team Jak Foundation- Jak's Den
