The village of Masca is located in the Teno Rural Park in the northwest corner of Tenerife and has been a protected area since 1987 and was declared a rural park in 1994. The village was only connected to the rest of the island by road in the 1970s. It is one of the 'must-see' things to do when visiting Tenerife.

This is a lovely walk from Puerto de la Cruz through banana plantations to the secluded beach Playa del Bollullo. The walk has some hilly bits and stairs down to the beach, but is not challenging. There is a restaurant and bar at the beach where you can have lunch before you walk back to Puerto de la Cruz. If you want to give it a go you can read more about this walk on the link below.

Garachico in north Tenerife. The historic town of Garachico sits at the foot of the Teno Masif mountains. It was once a wealthy town full of traders and was the principal seaport of Tenerife until the volcanic eruption of 1706 put an end to this when lava from the eruption filled the harbour so it could no longer be used.

A look around Puerto de la Cruz, north Tenerife. Puerto de la Cruz is the original tourist resort of Tenerife. It has black sand beaches and a historic old town with buildings dating from the 16th century. It is very different from the tourist resorts of south Tenerife and has managed to keep its Canarian identity.

This fabulous coastal walk from Mirador San Pedro to Puerto de la Cruz along the Rambla de Castro is well worth doing if you haven't already. Great views and woodland. You can get a 363 bus from Puerto to the bus stop 'San Agustin' and then walk back to Puerto de la Cruz, or walk the opposite way from Puerto and get the bus back to town.

Monumento a la Pescadora, Playa del Muelle, Puerto de la Cruz.

Puerto de la Cruz was a village where fishing played a fundamental economic role for centuries, as represented by this detailed sculpture. The Fisherwoman Monument is in the heart of Puerto de la Cruz, right next to the town's harbour and Playa del Muelle. The bronze sculpture was made in 2008 by the sculptor Julio Nieto at the request of the Lions Club.
