Lion will usually start their nightly roar around sunset to communicate their location, show their strength, and intimidate rival lions from other prides.
This roar can reach 114 decibels, about 25 times louder than a gas powered lawn mower!

Whilst Spotted Hyena are famous for their "laughing" style of call, this is the most common call of theirs to hear whilst out in the bush. This "whooping" call is a distance communication call that the hyena use to announce their presence when out of visual contact.
