With miles and miles of beautiful beaches to explore the best time to plan your trip to the Isle of Wight is NOW! 🌅

The Island has a varied coastline and because of this, can boast cliffs, coves, sandy beaches, secret inlets and rock pools to discover. From the sands of the East Wight at Sandown, Shanklin and Yaverland to the cove at Steephill and right around the West Wight to Compton Bay and Freshwater, you’ll be amazed at just how different the landscape becomes.

Did you know that 11 out of the 14 Island beaches have the highest rating for bathing water quality? Having introduced a new standard 4 years ago, the Environment Agency gave the stamp of approval of ‘excellent’ to 11 beaches with the other 3 receiving a rating of ‘good’ so you and yours can paddle and swim knowing that you’re doing so in safe water.

The Isle of Wight also champions the ‘drive less see more’ ethos – it’s simple and easy to get to many of our beaches by foot, bike, bus or train – so why not slow down and see more! 🏖 🏝

This Halloween pop along to the IW Steam Railway and you’ll be met by lots of wickedly, wonderful fun this half term as witches, wizards and other ghouls take over. 👻🎃

You can meet the friendly witches of Havenstreet, you may be able to be a spooky apprentice and help with some magic spells. Watch the skies as the birds of prey from Haven Falconry swoop and dive. Take the terrifying treasure hunt trail and explore the grounds before boarding the steam train where a crafty witch will be dealing out treats (maybe a few tricks) then settle back for a journey through 'haunted' woodland.

The famous Steam trains will also be running throughout the day, from 10.15am until 5pm. Book online to reserve your exclusive compartment on the train for you and your family -please see their website here https://bit.ly/3zW0mfT. 🚂👻

The Isle of Wight offers a wide range of choice when it comes to dining out. From freshly caught seafood with a gin and a view of the sea, to a hearty roast loaded with seasonal veggies, locally reared meats and local ale. 🍺🥩🍔

The Cow restaurant bar at Tapnell Farm Park is a firm favourite. Located at Tapnell Farm in a stylishly converted Swiss Barn. The Cow offers modern comfort and rustic charm seamlessly combined in a unique and welcoming family and dog friendly restaurant. There is also plenty of outdoor seating on the lawn area with amazing countryside and sea views.

All orders are now made and paid for via The Cow at Tapnell Farm App which means you can choose to either eat in (must be booked in advance), eat outside or take-away!

Head out this weekend and experience it for yourself!

Looking for a great night out, but not into pubs and clubs? Then why not treat yourself to a night out with the stars... the actual stars.🌒⭐️🌟✨

Now a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the Isle of Wight has some of the darkest skies in the UK, making it perfect for an astronomical night out.

Separated from mainland Britain on one side by a stretch of water, and with the English Channel on the other and with no major cities, the Island has very little light pollution. There is a noticeable difference from the mainland whether you’re on the edge one of our towns or out in the countryside. The big names like the Milky Way, Cassiopeia, Orion and the Plough are all seen from our skies. 🪐💫

Sustainable travel is something that is easy to achieve here on the Isle of Wight and our Slow Travel Guide is here to help. So, leave the car keys at home and explore the Isle of Wight today by foot, bike, scooter or bus! 😃

A Slow Travel route that we thoroughly recommend is a the Yarmouth, Shalfleet, Newtown, Cowes route…

The crossing to Yarmouth from Lymington is among the most scenic you could wish for, with the journey accompanied for much of the way by reed beds and – always – striking views of the Needles and Tennyson Down. As you approach the Island, look to port (east) and you’ll notice a forested coastline that invites exploration.

The hinterland just to the east of Yarmouth is unlike anywhere else in the Isle of Wight. This is a world of creeks, muddy inlets, unvisited coast, wildlife-rich woodlands and tucked away hamlets. It can feel like a slice of the Island that time forgot, appreciated only by those in the know. 🏞🌅

Drive less, see more this autumn by leaving the car at home and exploring one of our Slow Travel routes. 🍂

A favourite of ours is the, Ryde, Seaview, St Helens, Bembridge, & Brading route.

As recently as the 16th century, Bembridge was almost an island, all but cut off from the rest of the Isle of Wight by the River Yar. Some 1,500 years earlier the river and estuary were deep enough for a harbour at Brading Haven, where Roman trading vessels could moor. Yet by the time the Tudors came to the throne, it had begun to silt up, a process later completed by the Victorians who drained the land for grazing. The Isle of Bembridge was no more but now joined to the rest of the Isle of Wight by a soggy hinterland. Nominated for its beaches, strong community spirit, village shops and more, Bembridge was crowned ‘Village of the Year‘ in the BBC Countryfile Magazine Awards 2019.

✨It’s a fascinating route to explore and you see read all about it here https://bit.ly/3ApLOWU.

Are you planning a autumn/winter staycation and looking for inspiration? Look no further, the Isle of Wight has what you need! 🍂

With beautiful rolling countryside, beaches as far as the eye can see, fresh, delicious local produce everywhere you turn, cycle routes and endless walks, it should be top of your list of places to visit this year!

Travel across to the Isle of Wight on foot, hop on a bus and travel to Luccombe and stay at the stunning Luccombe Hall Hotel.

Luccombe Hall Hotel was originally built in 1870 as the summer home for the Bishop of Portsmouth. This lovely, family-run hotel commands the best position and the best selection of facilities of any hotel on the Isle of Wight. With magnificent views of the bay, the hotel has direct access to the beach and the Old Village of Shanklin and yet is away from traffic noise.

If cycling’s not really your thing, the Island has an abundance of walking trails that lead you through grassy fields and along stunning chalky coastlines. The paths come in a variety of lengths and difficulty levels, so you can go for a full-blown trek, or simply walk along the coast from one beach to the next. If you're a seriously keen walker, time your visit to coincide with the Isle of Wight Walking Festival in May which offers a variety of walks to suit everyone.
