A little about us...
Quite a few years ago, I was driving home from work and saw a cute little caravan sitting by the side of the road. She wasn’t pretty; her paintwork was shabby and mildewed and some of her windows were broken. As the months went by, she hadn’t moved and started looking more neglected. Although I am a Veterinary Nurse by trade, I had been involved with helping to restore a few old cars, mostly Morris Minors, with my partner, so I thought this little van might be just the thing for us to do up for holidays with our two young daughters. The gentleman who she belonged to agreed to sell her to me and we managed to tow her home without her falling apart.
Unfortunately, as they say ‘life got in the way’ and a few years later, now on my own, I decided that it really was time to get the caravan done. There followed lots of hard work and a steep learning curve, at the end of which Elsie the caravan was completed along with the unwavering help and support of my neighbours (especially Faye and John) and my family (especially Mum and Nick). Special thanks must also go to my daughters, Steve, Lee and Richard for their support.
My daughters and I enjoyed several holidays in Elsie, and she proved herself to be a lovely little van. And then the thought grew.. I wonder if anyone else would like to use her while we aren’t? I asked around, and yes, people thought is was a good idea. What next? Well, if you have never done it, towing anything can be a big hurdle - so my delivery idea was born - the basic idea is you tell us where and we’ll get it there!
Ecological considerations are also very important to me; Elsie has a solar panel to run her fridge and charge phones and tablets, as well as using biodegradeable chemicals in her toilet, and she’s also been upcycled from her original state.
