Time and Tide Taletellers Storytellers blending myth, legend, history and pure invention. Specialising in themed walks in the Bristol area.
(2)

Mr Time and Miss Tide are two tale-tellers who lead a series of seasonal and themed walks or events around Bristol and beyond. They have combined their extensive experience in the worlds of story, history, leading groups and walks to provide an imaginative engagement with the sense of place. Blending myth, legend, history and pure invention, for this is what turns an anonymous public space in to a place with meaning.

CASTLE PERILOUS – Shrewsbury Castle looms precariously above the railway station. It is more of a worry if, like me, you know that the castle built of soft red sandstone has been damaged by earthquakes, attacked by terrorist and has had stones exploded by lightning. And that is just in the last 50 years.

Before that there was of course all the obligatory damage of sieges, repairs that often did more damage and plain old neglect. It is a surprise sometimes that any historic buildings survive at all!

Also a surprise is that this English castle was briefly captured by Llywelyn the Great, Prince of Wales in 1215.

For those who missed it, here is the Roman altar with us atop the posing platform modelling (in our garden) some of the costumes we had available for people to use for 'divine selfies' at our recent Brean Down National Trust event. We reconstructed the outline of the Roman Temple there, and placed this altar where the original stood. As the original dedication for the Temple is unknown we thought why not let everyone have a go at being the Goddess or God.

We will be recreating the Roman Temple on the site where it stood atop Brean Down, explaining the visible remains along with telling Roman Tales. And there is a chance to dress-up as a Goddess/God and have a photo taken as you statue pose behind the replica altar. We are going all out at Brean Down! Hope to see you there on Saturday 28th May 1pm-3pm.
