🎉🏅 Our amazing parks had an absolute blast hosting their own versions of the Olympics this summer! Our incredible team members went head-to-head, competing in everything from intense air hockey battles 🏒 to slam-dunking basketball shots 🏀 – everyone brought their A-game!

Of course, we had the classic egg & spoon race 🥚🏃‍♀️, some serious welly wanging action 👢, and even the lightning-fast bed making challenge! 🛏️💨

And let's not forget the ultimate Olympic sport… cocktail making! 🍹🍸 Who says athletes can't have a little fun? 😂

A big shoutout to our amazing team at Hafan Y Mor who have created a peaceful spot in the park where everyone can unwind, relax and just enjoy the moment. . 🌿🌼 Just across from reception, you'll find this charming, pink-themed paradise—pink flowers, pink paths, pink benches, and even a beautiful water feature. 🌷🍃 It’s the perfect spot to pause, breathe, and soak in the tranquility.

🌟 Celebrating Youth Employment Week! 🌟
Today's theme is "Grow Day" and we had an inspiring Q&A session with Elisha Jacks, one of our Haven Degree-Apprentices in Business Management. 🌱✨
Q: How has being an apprentice helped you grow both professionally and personally?
Professionally, being an apprentice has helped me develop many new skills. I've learned about different areas of the business, the systems and technology we use, and I've honed my communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while working in a professional environment. 📈💼
On a personal level, the experience has been equally rewarding. Rotating through different departments has allowed me to interact with a diverse group of people and appreciate various viewpoints. I've faced new challenges daily, building my resilience and adaptability, and learned to balance work responsibilities with my personal life and degree assignments. It’s equipping me with all the essential skills needed for my career growth. 🌟🧩
Q: How did you discover your current career path, and what advice would you give to young people exploring their options?
My career path began with a part-time job while I was still in school. Initially, it was a way to earn some money and gain work experience, but I quickly fell in love with the company culture and the supportive environment at Haven. As I took on more responsibilities, I realised how much I enjoyed working here, which led to my decision to stay with the company full-time and pursue this apprenticeship.
My advice to young people is to be open to exploring opportunities that come your way. Reflect on the type of work environment where you feel you would thrive and take every opportunity to learn new skills and gain knowledge. These steps have led me to where I am now! 🌍🔍
Q: Can you share a transferable skill that has been crucial in your career, and how you developed it during your apprenticeship/Degree Apprenticeship?
Communication is crucial in the workplace. It's essential for working effectively with teams and interacting with guests to understand their needs. The apprenticeship offers many ways to enhance this skill. Through feedback sessions, presentations, writing tasks, team projects, and learning modules, I've honed my ability to listen, articulate ideas, and collaborate efficiently. These skills have been fundamental in advancing my career, enabling me to work effectively with teams, and will help me lead projects and teams successfully. 🗣️🤝
Q: What have you done to build your professional network (internally or externally), and how has it helped your career?
I've volunteered for cross-departmental projects to meet and work with team members outside my immediate team, broadening my internal network. Being on this degree has not only helped me gain new skills but also provided opportunities to connect with colleagues across the UK who share similar professional interests. Having a wide professional network allows me to learn from others' experiences, take their advice, and create more opportunities for myself, which helps in developing my professional skills. 🌐🤗

Today's Focus: Growing Your Career and Connections 🌱🤝
We're excited to share insights from Emily Baker, Digital Learning Administrator and Apprentice: Digital Learning Designer Level 5

Q: How has being an apprentice helped you grow both professionally and personally?

The apprenticeship has allowed me to learn new skills and understand the theory behind my role. Moving from a business admin apprenticeship to my current position, I now have an official qualification in Digital Learning. This has validated my experience and taught me new methods and behaviors. Additionally, I've built a strong network of peers in similar roles, which is great for sharing ideas and advice. 🌟📚🤝

Q: How did you discover your current career path, and what advice would you give to young people exploring their options?

I started at Bourne in the L&D team with a business administration level 2 apprenticeship. After completing it, I stayed on as an L&D administrator, eventually transitioning to digital learning. I love being creative, and this role allowed me to incorporate design into my work. My advice: Don’t limit yourself to one path. Explore different options and go with the flow. You'll find the right path, often in unexpected ways. 🚀🎨🌟

Q: Can you share a transferable skill that has been crucial in your career, and how you developed it during your apprenticeship?

Time Management. This skill is vital during an apprenticeship as you need to complete 6 hours of off-the-job learning weekly. Developing this skill has been crucial for me. ⏰📋✨

Q: What have you done to build your professional network, and how has it helped your career?

Joining LinkedIn is a great way to network externally. Internally, getting involved in various business activities, like pioneering for Haven, has helped me meet people outside my usual interactions. These relationships have been valuable for understanding different areas of the business. 🌐🤝🌟
