Voices of War A 3 Volume work looking at the history of I Battery (Bull's Troop) from the Napoleonic era up to present day.

The book will be a complete History of I Battery, 7 para RHA dating back to 1805 when the Troop was raised at Colchester as part of the corps d’elite being sent to fight the French in Europe. The Battery history has been a continuous one, which has far outlasted many other batteries due to its record for bravery and professionalism in service. It will chart the development of Bull’s Troop through

the glory days of the Peninsular Wars and its courageous defence at Fuentes D’Onoro (commemorated annually on the 5th May and known as Driver’s Day), the lesser-known foreign tours of the late 1800’s leading up to the World Wars and finally the beginning of the airborne era in 1961, when I Battery (alongside F and G) broke away from their tradition role of cavalry support to become a Parachute Artillery. The latter part of the book looks at more modern conflicts starting with a focus on the Middle East, then Ulster, the Falklands and Cyprus, taking the reader up to the most recognised names; Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and finally Afghanistan.

We have been busy uploading new Life Stories - currently our professionally researched files that would normally be part of our subscription only service are going into the free database in full format.

We have added over 100 of these so far this week, but we still need your help!

We are currently focussing on those who fought at Arnhem, or have memories of the forces being stationed here in the UK before they left. If you have anything to share, please do get in touch via the website or on here.

What's in a name? Well...we think its quite a lot so we have decided to rebrand. Our Waterloo work reached a peak with the memorial laying so we are building on our success!

During our Waterloo research we found fascinating documents that revealed the personal histories of the soldiers that fought in the Peninsular and at Waterloo, and we wanted to make these accessible. So, Voices of War was born!

We have spent the last 2 years working on researching soldiers, as well as the IT behind the digital archive that houses all of those life stories. Our launch date for this will be on the 17th of September, to coincide with the anniversary of the Operation Market Garden and the 79th commemorations.

Please like, follow, and share this as we build up to that with more details about this exciting project over the next few weeks and we look forward to sharing it with you all!
