Here we go! 🛫
The Belgian Wonderwomen - I call them this because of how motivated, positive and capable these future doctors are - and thats what they will do. On their way to culturally diversify themselves to be changemakers of the future. After months of planning, the girls are on their way to an adventure of a lifetime 🎊🎉🇧🇪🔜🇹🇿
Let’s get it ladies!

Our team works hard so that our volunteers, interns and project partners can simple do what they do best. We facilitate programs in location in the heart of Africa, staying in touch with our culture, community and their need always at the core. We love what we do and the people we do it with!

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

Psychology in the Community
✅ The idea of bridging our women and children’s projects with our psycholohy program first came to me close to 6 years ago, but neither the projects nor the people in them at the time were ready to accept the help, open up or understand what psychology was all about.
✅ So to have met Dr P. who not only embraced what Medi Trip was trying to achieve but already practised it was a game changer.
✅ But new levels have been reached by outstanding Psychology Interns who have elevated this work and completely believed in their process and the people they are working with.
✅ Elisabeth, Lotte, Flora, Michelle & Jordan have been incredible. Many many challenges were faced yet they pushed on for the greater good and what an impact they’ve made. You are going to heal many many people in the future.
✅ To Malik who heard our call and came all the way from Moshi to join us, you’ve been invaluable. Thank you to Dr Pascal for firmly believing in us from the beginning.

Sanne & Lisanne (Nursing, Netherlands 🇳🇱)
Sanne has been volunteering with us for 3 months and the change in her is remarkable. Sanne arrived a timid, quiet young nurse who is now teaching fellow nurses/trainees, moving and working independently in the community. Her evolution is incredible.
“I am till now in the Medical Ward (intern medicine) department. There patients who have chronic illnesses. For example; Diabetes, Heart failure, COPD, Strokes or Kidney failure or diseases. There is a lot of diversity. “ and then “Had my first week at the Paediatric. I really enjoy it so far.“
Lisanne joins her as Sanne now gets to mentor and pass her knowledge forward and as the both, exchange their knowledge and go through this big experience and care for their patients.

Women’s Empowerment Project
What it looks like in 2024
✅ To make an impact you’ll need to first understand intersectionality that exists within African womanhood.
✅ Intersectionality is the layers of inequality and disadvantages that form obstacles that don’t exist for other more privileged groups. This is real and true for these women.
✅ Understanding that is key to making any measurable difference.
✅ Acknowledgement that privilege and positioning exists within the femme scape that can create even more barriers for African women.
✅ Acknowledging this is saying “I see you and I acknowledge your lived experience”
✅ This is why this project exists.
✅ Not because these women have “failed” in some way, but because the world has failed them.
✅ We plan to amplify their voices and give an authentic space to how these women experience the world and use our position to contribute to their lives in a measurable way.

Law & Legal Advocacy Internship
What it looks like in 2024
✅ Our world is becoming increasingly more globalised and it’s so important to foster understanding between nations and allow all people to understand equity and their role in the larger dynamics in of legal systems.
✅ Although many issues may be viewed as having issues that have broader issues of inequality and imbalance, we need to look both forward in analysing our position in how we can fight inequality but also look back in what roles were played in creating this inequality in the first place.
✅ Can we use our own privileges and platforms to first learn/understand rather than ‘save’ and ‘fix’?
✅ And then use newfound understanding to become allies and advocate for people who do not share our privileges.
✅ Therein lies a stronger position of creating change, by becoming an informed and active ally, rather than a vo**ur; where we all play a real role.
✅ Work with a real lawyer learning how to advocate for clients who is a Certified Arbitrator, Mediator, Negotiator, Lecturer an Advocate of the High Courts and its subordinates
✅ Deconstruct ideologies that uphold inequality
✅ Help clients navigate and understand complex legal systems and processes which may affect their livelihoods and their freedom
✅ Work on real active cases that require
✅ Provide legal opinion
✅ Assist in legal aid and pro bono work in the community raising awareness and education.

SHE RISES: MICRO BUSINESSES START UPS FOR WOMEN IN NEED 2024

THE VISION
Imagine a world where every woman has the opportunity to achieve her dreams and support her family. That’s the world we’re striving for with our She Rises for Women in need campaign. Our team at Medi Trip & Siret Volunteers is dedicated to making this a reality by opening at least 50 micro businesses for women in Arusha by 2024. These businesses will provide women with the tools and resources they need to succeed, from financial support to mentorship and training programs.

GOAL
But we can’t do it alone. We need your help to reach our fundraising goal of $5,000 USD. With your support, we can empower women in Arusha to take control of their lives and build a brighter future for themselves and their families. 100% of all proceeds go towards the women in this project.

Plan:
✅ 50 thriving businesses for 50 women by December 2024
✅ $100 per micro business will be allocated to a woman in need including help with start up materials and/or rental space.
✅ Each woman will attend our women’s empowerment projects which support women in need. The project will provide the women a training and support program to ensure they get the right start to become independent business owners.
✅ The training and support program will be curated by our team in partnership with a personal finance and business consultant professional from Germany, who has been working on her own empowering women in finance will be volunteering with us in early 2024.

Join us in this mission to create a world where every woman has the opportunity to thrive. Together, we can make a difference. ⭐️https://gofund.me/8ad3ec01

Counting down to the new year and soon we’ll be looking back at this extraordinary year.
The only thing we hope for is peace and for all men, women and children who are unsafe, unprotected and in need to receive the same humanity everyone deserves. We will continue contributing to our community and beyond. We’re looking forward to a peaceful 2024.

Matilda (Final year Nursing Student, KCL London) is special for many reasons, to us she represents both the future and the past. The past because she is exactly where I was when I founded Medi Trip and the future as the next generation of progressive and culturally evolved Nurses. She not only absolutely shined in her Emergency Department placement, she raised £400 to help with patients who cannot afford payments and will be sponsoring the education of a bright young girl from our community who cannot afford to go to school. Matilda absolutely understood the assignment and has left several people and a family better off thanks to her authentic kindness and intelligence at understanding needs and what she can do to contribute. Nashukuru sana Matilda, we can’t wait to see you continue to excel! 🚀
