Free School Meals Program 🎉
Another successful month as Carina (former Nutrition Intern) continues to support the program. This program has not only fed these children for a few years now, but kept them in school knowing there is a hot meal and encouraging others to start and stay in school.

However it is a team job and cannot be done alone! If you or anyone you know would like to join or support Carina in helping to donate and sponsor the program please do get in touch.

✅100% of all funds donated go directly towards this program
✅We keep a spreadsheets and records of where donation money is going as standard
✅We keep photo records of each food drop
✅We keep close contacts with head of the school for regular updates
✅ Medi Trip gain nothing from this program, we do it because we love it, we believe in what we do and we are part of this community.

Join the mission! Get in touch via message or email and connect with Carina.

Medi Trip Alumni - Stella & Rebecca came with us for their nursing electives in early 2017 while studying their Bachelors at Kings College London. They burst into our lives, giving faith in Emmanuel and I’s little organisation and putting their hearts into every moment and every opportunity to learn something new. Their humility, support of us and energy was so infectious. We quickly fell into a dynamic that grew into a friendship and has grown ever since. Stella and Rebecca went on to become established nurses and now mothers, and I’ve had the privilege of watching their lives progress from the bright students, nursing colleagues and now life long friends bonded by their experience in Tanzania.

You’ve inspired hundreds of students to follow in your footsteps simply because you had faith in us, thank you for the unwavering support - Pearl x

Meet Maggie, receiving our guests at our newest accommodation—a stunning private guest house, now our 4th home in Arusha! Surrounded by lush gardens alive with vibrant greenery and blooms, this serene retreat is designed to provide our volunteers who want a touch of privacy with a safe, tranquil, and welcoming space to call home.

As the dedicated housekeeper of this beautiful space, Maggie embodies the essence of Tanzanian warmth and African hospitality, pouring her care, service, and attention into every detail. Her kindness and dedication ensure that every volunteer feels not just cared for, but embraced as part of our MediTrip family.

Thank you, Maggie, for bringing your heart and spirit to this home and for helping us create a sanctuary that reflects the beauty and warmth of Tanzania. We are so grateful for you! 🌍

Chantal, an unstoppable force of compassion, resilience, and strength. This incredible woman has not only overcome challenges that would break most, but she has also risen to become a beacon of hope and empowerment for others.

Now on her third trip with us, Chantal has become more than just a volunteer—she’s the heart and soul behind our Women’s Empowerment Project, serving as its dedicated Director. Herself and Roseline, the project founder make a powerful team who have taken a struggling project and turned it into a community hub for women and children. The success is clear to see.

Her unwavering love and commitment to uplifting others have made her an irreplaceable part of the community. Chantal, we are in awe of the powerful woman you are, and we are honored to stand beside you as you continue to inspire and transform lives. 💙

🌟 Celebrating Leadership, Excellence, and Empowerment** 🌟

We are thrilled this year about promoting Careen as our General Manager 💼✨

Careen’s story is a testament to the power of a young woman’s hard work, dedication, and extraordinary talent. A graduate of the *Institute of Accountancy*, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role, honed during her time working with the Government Municipality office before joining Medi Trip.

Since day one in management, Careen has transformed our ground operations in Arusha with her exceptional organizational skills, sharp administrative acumen, and unparalleled ability to connect with people and her ability to completely calm, never shaken. Her leadership has elevated our coordination, improved our services, and strengthened the foundation of what we do.

Careen represents the future of empowered Tanzanian women breaking barriers and leading with strength and grace. 🌍💪

Here’s to celebrating a phenomenal leader who continues to inspire and uplift everyone around her. Join us in congratulating Careen as she steps into this well-deserved role! 👏🏾✨

Maternity Care Through a Cultural Lens: Advocating for Women's Health blog post https://wix.to/myl2eda

Midwifery work in Tanzania requires navigating the space between cultural sensitivity and advocacy for underprivileged women in a problematic space; which is both complex and deeply interconnected. It requires an understanding of not just health-related challenges but also the broader socio-cultural...

Intersectionality in Women's Empowerment: blog post https://wix.to/KxdovUg

Intersectional feminism and Western feminism are two frameworks that offer different lenses through which we can understand and advocate for women’s rights, particularly in the context of working with African women on empowerment projects in Tanzania. Mwalimu Julius Nyerere - The Father of a Nation

Former President Julius Nyerere stands as a towering figure in Tanzanian history, celebrated for his role as an anti-colonial activist, politician, and political theorist. He governed Tanganyika first as prime minister from 1961 to 1962, and subsequently as president from 1962 to 1964. Following the union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar that formed Tanzania, he continued to serve as president from 1964 to 1985. Nyerere was not only a pivotal leader but also a founding member and chairman of the Tanganyika African National Union (TANU) party, which transformed into Chama Cha Mapinduzi, and he remained an influential figure in it until 1990.

Anchored in African nationalism and socialism, Nyerere’s political philosophy, encapsulated in the concept of Ujamaa, advocated for unity and collective responsibility among Tanzanians. In 1967, he unveiled the Arusha Declaration, a seminal document that articulated his vision of Ujamaa—encouraging citizens to collaborate in cultivating their livelihoods through sustainable practices and economic empowerment. This profound principle emphasized the importance of self-reliance, urging Tanzanians to build and benefit from their own stores, businesses, and resources.

Today, we honor this remarkable African leader, deeply cherished by his people and admired across the diaspora. Nyerere’s legacy of empowerment and self-agency continues to inspire future generations, serving as a foundation upon which we can build a more equitable and self-sufficient society for all.

Silent/invisible work: We quietly revamped our menu across all accommodations and boy have the cooks been showing off! Incredible Swahili delights that are show casing our staff’s culture and heritage. The cooks organised themselves as a team, reorganised their spice cupboards, debated recipes (it got heated 😂) and finally revealed their dishes….the taste test: 10/10 🔥✨
