After many, many hours of chopping, hacking, weeding, scrapes, cuts and insect bites in the 30-40 degree weather, the poolside went from Sleeping beauty’s nightmare to a lovely place for a sundowner and one last swim before travelling back to Scotland. Najac - a beautiful village close to Peyrar. Najac is steeped in history and is crowned with a 40 metre tall tower which you can still climb to see stunning views over the valley. It is well worth a visit. If you would like to visit our house in the Southwest of France, please get in touch. The first 2 weeks in July are still available if you are interested. 🇫🇷

A drive to most places but the benefits far outweigh this. The house is beautifully simplistic, and has everything you would need in regard to social spaces, bedrooms, the kitchen. Outdoor spaces were lovely and well used by us - especially the pool.”

Peyrar, France. Latest review from one of our summer guests visiting Peyrar (it's been google translated!): We really enjoyed the house, its large living room with its convivial dining table, the kitchen which was also very provided with utensils. The downstairs bedroom, spacious and quiet, stayed cool despite the high temperatures this summer. She was perfect for having the baby sleep there. Your workshop is very convenient and rich enough to cope with the small events of everyday life. The pool did us the greatest good when the temperatures were so high. The figs were great!

Trip to Najac today. As beautiful as ever. It’s quite a hilly little village but worth every step. lots of lovely little shops and restaurants with the hero of the day being the Fortress. Well with a visit. About 19km from the house.

I had a 4 day break between guests this week at Culzean Cottage so as the carpet in the bathroom had been destroyed this summer, I took the opportunity to rip it up. All manner of surprises were in store but I’m pleased with the change. It’s not quite finished yet as we need a new bath a shower etc… but in the absence of ever being able to get a plumber post Covid, this will do for now.

Doing a changeover at Culzean today and just pulled a little of the carpet up in the bedroom to discover wooden floors!!! I’m so excited!! They are in a bit of a state but who cares! Picked up a pre-loved table at my local Zero Waste shop, the top was a disaster ( not shown as I was too excited to get started and forgot to photograph it! 😂) but it got the treatment and now looks perfect in Culzean Cottage. Suits the cottage far more than its many predecessors!

A huge big thanks and lots of love goes to all my lovely guests who have already stayed, and the ones who have booked to stay at Culzean Cottage for their summer holidays. I know many of them would maybe rather be jetting off to somewhere sunny, but there is a lot to be found in our own beautiful country, and sometimes even a little bit of sunshine ☀️ I hope everyone find some joy in holidaying closer to home this year. Is amazing how beautiful our country is, we just need to look up and open our eyes once in a while! ❤️❤️

First of my French holiday makers arriving at Peyrar today. Very jealous as it should have been us instead but thanks to a Pandemic, the Scottish Government and less so Brexit, we’re not. Never mind, I hope my guests have a fabulous time. Had to rely on my wonderful caretakers to get the place ready for us. My control freakery of not doing it myself is making me feel a little unstable but never mind!! Pass the gin! 🤣🤣
