A new idea for you.

Every year, in every engine shed in every far flung corner of the country, engine owners embark on reassembling engines of various description and size for the forthcoming season.

How good would it be to have a little extra help?

We have many Steam Apprentices ready and waiting to assist with the more everyday tasks of running an engine, so owners and crew please feel free to make contact and we'll put you in touch with some willing help eager to learn.

Sarum Model Traction Engine Club is based just outside the beautiful Wiltshire city of Salisbury in the UK. We attend many local steam rallies, village fetes and hold 2 events of our own- a summer barbeque and a winter Christmas /AGM evening. Membership of the club for 2017 is £10 and membership runs January to December. We have a website with a members only forum area where you can discuss issues and share tips with fellow enthusiasts. We also produce a quarterly newsletter which we would love to fill with items from the members. So, if you have built or are building a miniature steam engine and want to join us - send a message!

Just a reminder that Nottingham Industrial Museum has its next steaming day this coming Sunday (30 October). It's coinciding with our Halloween Steaming Spooktacular so the best time to visit will be in the early afternoon or from 4.30pm for the event itself.

It would be great if we could have a like and a share from our friends at the Sarum Model Traction Engine Club and we very much hope to see some of you there if you are in the area!

Officers in Aberdeenshire are appealing for information in relation to a theft that occurred at a Spring Fair in Strathdon at the weekend.

During the annual Spring Fair held at Glenbuchat hall in Strathdon on Saturday 23 May 2015 two lamps from a miniature steam traction engine that was being exhibited and demonstrated at the event were taken.

It is believed that the theft occurred sometime between 10.00am and 1.15pm on the day whilst the engine was being displayed in the car park at the hall.

The lamps are brass and partly painted black and they are approximately 15 cm tall including the handle. The two lamps are valued at a three figure sum.

PC Young from the North Marr Community Policing Team, who is investigating the theft said: "The fair was very busy with attendees enjoying the family event and I would ask that if anyone has any information about the theft that they contact us on 101 with details."
