The Cat’s Back Challenge: Iconic Views & Cabin Sleepover - Plan Your Trip

The Cat’s Back Challenge is a five-mile run up a 2100ft high peak in the Black Mountains, called the Cat’s Back because of it’s rocky, arched, knife-edge ridge. Spectacular views reward runners and hikers who take on the challenge, with England stretching out on one side and Wales on the other. Wild ponies, red kites, buzzards and kestrels along the route add to the drama.

Check out the Visit Herefordshire website for more information on how to plan your trip: https://www.visitherefordshire.co.uk/inspiration/challenge-2024-hike-bike-kayak

Halloweenfest comes to Herefordshire !

We have a HUGE Halloween Announcement !

Herefordshire will be hosting it's first ever Halloweenfest this October half term, a Halloween themed festival which will be touring our five market towns between 30 October and 3 November 2023 offering free family fun for everyone !

Each town will have its very own pop-up pumpkin patch centrally located where you can enjoy carving one of the pumpkins picked from the pop-up pumpkin patch right in town! There will be tons of other craft activities running alongside this with brilliant local businesses such as Yat Pottery Studio / Yat Pottery Art & Home in Ross on Wye and the in Kington. More details coming soon.

The festival is on each day of half term between 10am to 4pm launching on Monday 30 October in Bromyard, moving on to Ross on Wye, Ledbury, Leominster and finishing off in Kington on Friday 3 November.

Kids can grab a wheelbarrow to explore the hay filled pumpkin furrows, pick a pumpkin to either take home or carve as part of the festival and enter into the competition for the best carved pumpkin.

Other fun activities taking place include face painting, circus skills workshops, balloon modelling, music and magic as well as the opportunity to find out more about the Herefordshire Wildlife Trust.

In addition, each town will have its very own Scarecrow Trail for families to follow and enjoy throughout the half term week (this is open 28 October to 5 November), as well as the opportunity to win a gift voucher from local businesses who complete the trail and enter the prize draw.

Check out visitherefordshire.co.uk for further information - we can't wait to welcome everyone !

We will be sharing tons of other brilliant things to do over half term over the coming weeks including all the very best pumpkin patches you can visit up and down the county during autumn including Pumpkin Pete's and Country-Pumpkins or The Pumpkin Patch in Marden.
