I can’t believe it has been almost 4 years since I first started The Maverick Guide. What a journey this has been!

However, after publishing 3 guides (6 editions), a magazine, a charity cookbook and a wedding guide, I’ve decided to put my pen down for the foreseeable future.

These past few years have been an incredible experience, and it never ceases to amaze me how positive and supportive all of Maverick’s readers have been. As an entrepreneur working from her kitchen table, I can’t express how much your kind words and shared travel stories have meant to me.

Yet as much as I cherish this brand and take pride in my accomplishments, rising print costs and increased turnover in the hospitality industry have prompted me to hit the pause button for now. It’s an opportunity for me to shift my focus towards other commitments and the exciting passion projects that are patiently waiting in the wings.

This has been a tough decision to make but it’s the right one, I feel, for this moment in my life. Though I’m stepping away for now, I want to reassure you that this isn’t a permanent goodbye. I like to think of it as an intermission. I’ve had a lot of requests for further guidebooks, and I’d love to reprise The Maverick Guide in the future.

In the meantime, please continue exploring this wonderful part of the world. I hope my guidebooks have brought some joy to you during your travels, and I hope you’ll pick up my books again.

So, this is goodbye for now, but not forever 💙

We check out the tasting menu at CIRCA, Exeter I’m starting to think that tasting menus are a bit like buses.
