It feels like two minutes ago we were waving a fond farewell to Kathleen and Kathleen, the dynamic duo behind the 'In The Loft' craft events at Ardross Farm for so many years.

They are big shoes to fill, but the show must go on! So, hello, my name is Kay and I'm a glassmaker based in Cupar, Fife. My home grown business is called Shed Heaven and I've enjoyed being part of the loft collective since 2013.

Pop along to 'Spring In The Loft' on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th April, from 9am to 5.30pm and you'll find a host of makers and artists upstairs, all waiting to give you a warm welcome. Follow this page for more information in the run up to the event. It's Easter weekend, so there might even be chocolate eggs for the best behaved visitors! 🐰

We’re celebrating the great outdoors from 28 September to 6 October with Fife Outdoor Activities Week, and there are some great opportunities to take to the water.

If you’ve got a need for speed eFoiling is the thing for you, It’s described as like flying on water! Imagine standing on a sleek board with a hydrofoil wing underneath, and as you gain speed, the board lifts above the surface, giving you the sensation of gliding through the air. eFoil Scotland are offering taster sessions - a great way to try this exciting sport.

For more thrills (and possibly spills!) how about a Waterskiing & Wakeboard Beginners Experience at Waterski & Wakeboard Scotland. You’ll gain confidence and skills as the friendly coaches move at a pace suitable for you and you’ll get out on the water and experience the thrill of waterskiing & wakeboarding for yourself.

Try something a bit calmer with an introduction to paddle boarding at Lochore Meadows with the Fife Outdoor Education Team. You’ll learn the fundamentals and basic skills of Stand Up Paddleboarding in a fun, inclusive and safe environment.

How about some coastal rowing? Elie and Earlsferry Sailing Club offer ''taster'' sessions of this increasingly popular way to enjoy the sea.

Relaxing break at Penny Cottage

Penny Cottage is located in the heart of Fife, Scotland in the historic village of Ceres, and is a sunny, bright holiday cottage that has recently been upgraded, with a cosy new heating system and bathroom. There is a large king-size room and a neat second room with a trundle bed that can act as a double. A fully equipped kitchen with microwave and washing machine offer complete catering needs. The garden enjoys sunshine throughout the day and is completely secure - perfect for any doggie friends you might like to bring with you.

We live nearby and will usually be here meet you on arrival or the next day. We are happy to help you plan your stay, and we can also arrange food and drink packages, including local treats from meats and cheeses to baking and juices to local whisky, gin and also a range of organic, natural wines - please let us know when booking if you are interested in this.

Ceres is close to beaches, golf courses and historic places to visit like St Andrews, Falkland and the East Neuk fishing villages. There are handy local ammenities, a good bus service and beautiful countryside - perfect for walks.

Fife has a network of rural roads and so driving is fairly easy but make sure to plan your route first. There are good bus services and stations in nearby Cupar and Leuchars and also Ladybank and Markinch. There are many walks, whether you fancy the beach, the hills, a 'den' through the woods or a National Trust for Scotland gem, like Hill of Tarvit.
